Try one thing restore your laptop some previous date where the sound is working fine, if this also not solved you problem then take it to the technician some due to fault in the speakers , there is no sound

Check first that you did not mute the thinkpad by pressing the mute button on the top bar.

Just click the following link: 1ga239ww.exe

say I agree in the webpage that will open, and start downloading files.

Run the installer file after downloading is ended.

On an IBM T30 the speakers are aprt of the top cover, along with the touchpad, you need to replace the top cover usually, and this is not a job for absolute beginners, as you have to take apart the laptop.

Just to be sure :

speakers / headset work on another computer or audio device
the green jack is where the speaker must be connected
windows volume control is not muted / the level is not set to 0

since the driver is working fine as windows reports, go to device manager and locate Sound Device then right-click on it and select Uninstall and restart your computer.

Hi,

May I offer an alternative possibility. If the software/drivers checkouts and there are no yellow or red marks on the audio/sound devices inside the Device Manager, then it could possibly be a hardware fault. As a test, pls try using external speakers or a headset.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information. Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

    Hi again,

Hope you get to read this postback.

The speakers would be the size of your thumb or smaller. So it would be a matter of lifting the keyboard and/or the top half of the laptop casing. The speakers are readily accessible. Once exposed / removed, the speakers could be checked with a continuity tester (DVM or VOM) to confirm if open. Replacement are available here or better here.

    Cheers.

guess its go for broke. the only way to verify speaker issue is to gain access/expose them and perform continuity test. though opening the laptop may look daunting, it is actually only the first set of screws that would be challenging. once you get the ball rolling, it would just be a bit time consuming but not really that hard.

    Hi again,

    Any development(s) so far?

  • Louie Role

Since the sound is present, then the drivers and speakers are working.
However,as you posted the level is rather low which could point to a
    couple of additional ideas:

    • the new speakers are not an exact match as to the old
one, the impedance are high. Pls may I ask, were you able to check the
impedance of the new speakers with an ohmmeter/continuity tester?
Additionally, does the ratings/specs match the old defective ones?

    • the built-in amp of the laptop is not producing
sufficient power to drive the new speakers. Pls try again the
headphones and check if the level is uncomfortably loud if all the
      settings are at max; If yes, then amp is good, if not then amp is weak;

    • it is possible that the headphone jack needs cleaning
or replacement also. It has a built-in switch that disengages the
built-in speakers when a headphone is inserted. When the headphones are
removed, they may not be switching back properly.

To uninstall the current sound card drivers

First open computer management by right clicking my computer and selecting manage.

On the left side of the window select Device manager.

Now on the right side of the window click open the + Sound, video and game controllers.

Right click on the sound card. In my case it looks like this

Right click on it and select uninstall.

Now I recommend you restart the computer one the device is uninstalled, ones the computer restarts it will notify you of a new device, in this case click cancel and run the setup file that you downloaded from the page I gave you earlyer.

Kenwood krf-v4060d receiver display problem, its work for some time but after that no display, sound work fine but not able to see any display on receiver

it is possible that the voltage to the filament of the display is absent. This is normally a 3.6 volt AC which comes from the transformer and it can be lost a the connectors or the circuit board. It will be best to use a multimeter to trace the voltage to the display unit. check the voltage to the display driver IC, check the negative grid voltage to the display , if there is an open resisitor of the feed to the display voltage to the IC. Finally check the continuity of the filament of the display unit.
The driver IC is also a suspect , sumulate heat and see if the fault comes up easily which can confirm the case.
