Question about Belkin (F5D7230-4) Router (587009)

1 Answer

Downloads time out

When I download a file from the internet it times out after about a minute. Also, when I stream video it quits at about 1:05 minutes. Sometimes using the web on my laptop takes forever to switch pages, or sometimes won't at all. What's going on? It works great for a minute or so.

Most routers have a reset button. This will reset the router back to the factory defaults. I suggest trying this and see if it helps. If so, then check belkins site and see if you can upgrade the firmware so this will not happen again, hopefully.

How to download videos

1Turn on your computer and make sure you are connected to the Internet. High-speed Internet connections are favorable for downloading movies, which are often large files that can take a long time to download. Open a browser window--you can use Firefox, Internet Explorer, Chrome or any other browser of your choice.

2.Navigate to web service, which will allow you to download movies that can be watched on your laptop. You can go to Apple.com to download iTunes, which will allow you to register for an account and download movies at a particular price. You can also use Netflix.com to download or stream movies to your laptop.

3.Choose the movie that you would like to watch and, in iTunes or Netflix.com, purchase the film. Be aware that these online services do not have every movie that has ever been made, and most likely will not have obscure titles. Once you have chosen the movie that you wish to download, complete the payment process to purchase the film. Movies can be downloaded for free on various websites, however, this is illegal and can result in expensive legal suits.

4.Wait for your movie to download. Download times will vary depending on the speed of your Internet connection. Once the download has completed, you can open the movie file and watch it on your laptop.

I cannot play videos on UTube with my IPad. The videos stop every few seconds as if they are reloading . am I doing something wrong or is it because of the"NO Flash" issue with Apple?

It could be the speed (or lack of it) of your Internet connection -- you cannot download fast-enough to provide "real-time" video. When you start to download a video, press PAUSE, and let the download continue for a minute or two. Then, click PLAY, to view the already-downloaded stream.

Why does youtube stop playing and then starts again while a circular motion appears in the middle of the screen?

It is very simple youtube uses a streaming system based in flash, this means that the youtube player calls a file of an indetermined size stored in a server, did you ever noticed that in the playing bar below the video there is a red bar that fills the bar progresively this is the bar that shows the amount of video downoading of the file in the server, when the size of the file is to high it takes more time for the video player to download it, what happens is that the playing time is shorter than the download time so the player reaches the amount of video played faster than the video downloaded and it stops until the download progress a littlle bit more to continue playing the video, so if the video has a smaller file size the less the player stops, but small size videos could mean a down of quality in the image of the video depending also in the length of the video and in your internet connection speed.

Good luck

While watching tv episodes on comcast, they will start and stop every 5 - 10 seconds.

Your Internet speed is insufficient -- you cannot download the stream fast-enough to play it in "real-time".

So, press "pause", and wait for a few minutes, for the download to progress, and then press "play", to first play the "cached" content.

Or, pay more to Comcast per month to get a faster service.

Or, be sure to close all file-sharing programs, e.g., Limewire & BitTorrent, which consume most of your Internet "band-width", while watching the streamed TV programs.

Streaming audio/video quality can be affected by connection rate and Internet congestion. Many types of interruptions between your computer, your player, your computer's OS, your local network, your ISP and a streaming server can exist and cause trouble....
When you listen to the live audio/video stream, the sound or video skips, cuts out or buffers if the player doesn't have enough network bandwidth, it will buffer. Try increasing your player's buffering setting. Also:
  • Make sure you are choosing the appropriate bandwidth version of a media stream based on your Internet connection.
  • Make sure you are choosing the appropriate bandwidth settings in an Internet media player or streaming audio/video recorder.
  • Make sure NOT to download applications or files while watching/listening to media streams. Your Internet connection is shared between all open applications including your web-browser, your download manager and your streaming player. Closing applications that use your Internet connection simultaneously with your streaming player may reduce buffering.
  • Close other unnecessary applications that may be open on your computer. Reboot your computer. If you have lots of other programs open, they may be using too much processor time and/or RAM for the player to work properly.
  • Make sure your Internet connection is fast enough to reliably listen to streaming audio and/or watch streaming video online. High speed Internet connection is recommended.
  • Make sure your computer is fast enough. If your computer is old, it might be too slow to play an audio/video stream regardless of what else it's doing.
  • Update your media players and streaming audio/video recorders regularly.
Internet congestion can slow down the delivery of the stream, make it difficult for you to connect or cause buffering. Often the interruption is temporary. Please try to connect a few times at different times of the day, if possible. If you repeatedly have problems connecting, please notify your ISP - there are often quick fixes they can make when they learn about your issue.

Try the above steps you will find a solution to your problem....100% it will work.....

Streaming video on the internet

Your download speed may be effecting this. What you need to do is waiting until file has completed downloading, then watch the video. If a direct feed from the net, hit "play" on the screen, but then "pause" wait a about 20 secs and hit "play" again, this will give it enough time to get ahead of itself.
