How do I set avaya 4602 handset to

Turn on message lamp when a message is waiting.

We have 25 phones in our avaya ysstem. Only one of which displays the flashing message waiting signal. I cannot for the life of me, see where to turn this funtion on. It would be of fantastic benefit to the district nurses here. Is this something I can set within the avaya switch or on the handset itself.

Any help would be most warmly appreciated. Thanks

Do you know which system this phone is on? Is it an IP Office?

If so, chek the manager program and verify that under eachs users tab, ther is a "Vxxx" in the "trusted source" tab. Where "XXX is the extension number.

If it is on any system other than IP Office, e.g. 8700, 8300, 8500 with CM platform,

Message lamp extension field in the change station <extension number> screen .... should be set to that particular extension number.

An administrator who is familiar with the administrative commands of Avaya CM .. is needed to do this

I have a vetch mod# CS6114 I checked the base unit and it gets power to charge phone but I can't get a dial tone. I even hooked up to another line and still won't work.


This sounds like a registration problem, the
handset must be de-registered from wherever
it thinks it is and then registered to your base.

=====================================
( I ). First, to de-register a cs6114 handset ---

0. Start by taking off the battery compartment cover.

1. press [menu]
2. scroll up/down to "Settings"
3. enter * 7 8 9 0 #
4. scroll from "Test Base" to "Test Handset", press [select]
4. scroll down to "next page", press [select]
5. scroll down to "Register Clear?", press [select]
6. display asks "Confirm?" or "Register Clear??",
press [select]
7. display reads "Ok" and chirps, press [ off ]

8. UNPLUG THE HANDSET BATTERY
(this is why the cover was off)

9. Wait ~30 seconds, re-connect the battery &
replace the cover

10. display reads "Not Registered"

( III.) To register the cs6114 handset to the base:

1. press [Find Handset] on the base and hold for
~4 sec until the "In Use" lamp lights.
2. press # on the handset and set the handset into
the handset cradle on the base
3. within 30 seconds or so, the handset will either
chirp and display "Handset Registered", then
"Handset #x" or it will say "Registration Failed".

NOTE: the battery must be well charged prior to the
registration process, a weak battery may cause a
"Registration Failed". Charge the battery for a
few hours and try the registration ( III ) again.

NOTE 2: Some cs6114 bases do not have the "In Use"
lamp indicator. To register the handset simply park it
displaying "Not Registered" in the base cradle and wait
for the registration to occur. Pressing # as above may
be required, maybe not.

I have a user who's light keeps flashing on his Mitel VOIP phone to say he has a voicemail waiting. The user has no voicemail setup on the extension, however I have seen this before. I remember there is a...


I believe that another user has called you and while the phone was ringing, they pressed the message button - and set the lamp.
With the handset still on the cradle, press the message button... read the display. Follow the prompts to cancel or call the message sender.
OR
Pick up the handset, and press the message button. It should call the extension that set the lamp.

The code you refer to is not a standard code. Each vendor or installation is different and the codes can be set how the vendor or site wants them. If the above doesn't work, I suggest you contact the vendor for this info. Or if you have system access, log into the system and find the form Feature Access Codes. Look for the Lamp off code. Dial that code followed by your extension number.

I have a uniden dect1580 6.0 and the red light in the left hand corner blinks all the time.


That is the message waiting indicator, it is telling you that your Call Notes (Or whatever your service provider calls it's voicemail) has a message waiting. If you do not have a message waiting, you can turn the light of by following these steps:

Resetting the voice message waiting indicator
When you receive a new voice mail message, the new message LED on the top of the handset flashes and
appears in the handset display. In the event your message waiting light gets out of sync with your phone company’s
voice messaging system, you can manually reset it back to the “No messages waiting” state.
Press and hold FIND on the base for five seconds.
Note: The handsets connected to the base will start to beep, however, keep pressing for five seconds.
A beep sounds and the message alert tone is reset.

What does it mean if "message', 'Avaya', and 'A' lights are all blinking, and 'B' stays lit?


The solid light on B could be that the handset is offhook.

When a call rings in, the message light can be set to flash as well as the light will flash next to the a (or b ) button that the call is ringing in on.

No. BUT, you could use phone manager linked with that phone. Phone manager Pro would get you that.

My voicemail indicator message lamp stays on.


What voicemail do you have?
Vm Pro or embedded?

If voicemail pro, you will need to navigate to the folder where your messages are stored on the pc, delete them, then stop/restart the vmpro services. If you dont know what I am talking about, I would call someone in that is a knowledgeable tech....

Nothing. Just hit the # (Pound) Button, it will change the display, keep hitting pound, It appears that there might be something wrong with the phone. I would call your phone system Administrator. That IP address doesnt look correct.
