L100 John Deere mower will not engage...belt seems very loose but in good condition.

L100 John Deere mower will not engage. Was mowing lawn and went to re engage mower and nothing?? The lever to engage the mower has no resistance to it where before it did. The belt is in tact and looks good but is very loose. I tightened it and cleaned out any debris but still no luck. Any ideas? Is the lever that engages it purely mechanical?

SOURCE: Electric Clutch want engage the mower deck on my l120 john deere

They wear out. How old is the mower? Mine just gave out this week in the peak of hay season. (my grass) The wire can be unhooked from the PTO clutch and a 12 volt jumper can test it, if it jumps, it is good, if not, it is shorted out, they are expensive, I found 3 of them all the wrong size for mine. Try to find the same one. Ebay has a couple on there right now. Check it out.

GOOD MORNING, I HAVE A D140 JOHN DEERE LAWN MOW,IT RUN WELL WHEN NOT MOWING BUT WHEN ENGAGED IT SLOW DOWN AS THOUGH IT HAS TO CATCH IT'S BREATH LESS THAN THREE YEARS OLD

Make sure there isn't anything binding the deck belt or blades. Check the spindles for free movenent. If all that is good then it might be the linkage that is supposed to adjust the throttle when the engine is under load or it might be a carb issue...especially if you run ethanol gas in it.

John Deere X304 PTO Engagement Problem When Warm

Hi, check your belt tension, check all idler pulleys and drive pulleys for free rotation with the belt off and finally check that the belt is not bottoming out in any of the drive pulleys. If so, replace the belt. The blades should come up to speed imediately wether hot or cold and it sounds like your belt is slipping in one or more of the pulleys which drags the motor revs down until it grips. Regards Phil.

Need instructions for changing a drive belt on a john deere LT155 lawn tractor. When mowing up hill the forward motion is slipping even though i am not loosing traction. if i come off the pedal and start...

I have googled LT155 and came upon john deere LT155 lawn tractor(noncurrent). It took me to John Deere's site. I put in your model number and it had several catagories. I would try the alphabetical list, go to B and look for traction belt.
Good day.
