Question about Hampton Bay 04893 Ceiling Fan
I installed the fan purchased from Home Depot. It worked just fine twice but then the fan just stopped - light still operates. Home Depot is out of stock and product is discontinued.
I would like help troubleshooting fan switch/motor and info on finding parts. Unfortunately, I tossed the box and did not register warranty.

Just reporting that I called Hampton Bay about the remote not working to reverse the fan. I was told that I needed to have the fan running on low and then press reverse on the remote control. If that doesn't work, customer service told me to press reverse while running the fan on medium. (Some fans are set to reverse on low and others on medium.) Nowhere in the manual is this addressed. I had been pressing reverse with the fan turned off, which seemed to me a logical thing to do. Live and learn.

I was able to resolve the problem. It turned out that the light fixture part that I had received from the associate at The Home Depot was the wrong one. I needed a 3 speed not a 2 speed replacement part. However, I ended up not even needing that. Once I took the fan apart and watched it malfunction, I could see that the clear part holding the fixture rope on my older fan had another circular piece in the center that had become loose but had not fallen out. I simply used a very small piece of blue paint tape to seal back in place. Since the area doesn't get hot, I found this to be a suitable solution. Thanks for your help.
