Hello emmylou3444, If your phone is "jailbroke" then you should be able to hook it into your computer and see what files your songs are. After this you may convert your mp3 files to the correct format. If your phone is not "jailbroke" then i would say that you will have to do with what the phone lets you do.
Please post what you do and how you did it I look forward to your posts

alright well the best way to explain "jailbreak" is by downloading a application and loading it onto your phone with it is plugged into your computer. This will allow you to unlock settings and restrictions that phone companies place on your phone.

As for how to to place more ringtones for specific people i'm still researching that one. I know you can do it, my gf does it for me i just haven't talked to her since my 1st post. If this doesn't answer your problem please post again.

The ring tone is defaulting to generic Nokia tone when I have set it to an mp3 song that is loaded on the phone. The songs play correctly in the music player, but the phone won't ring with the set tone.

Your MP3 file may be too long in duration (try cutting it down to less than 10 seconds and try again), the file name may be too long (try renaming it on the desktop as ringmp3.mp3 and transfer to phone), or the MP3 may be recorded in a bit rate that is too high for the phone to support as a ringtone (transcode again to a lower bitrate).

You can try converting it to 3GP instead of MP3, that might help.

LG dare does not show artist name during playback. It only shows the song title. So, if I have a random playlist set up, with random artists, etc. I only see the song title during playback. If I want to...

rename the file types as follows (artist name - song title.mp3) example (Lit - Miserable.mp3)

otherwise you must edit the song info in each indivicual song from your computer and add the artist name by right-clicking the file and selecting properties........thanks and pls rate this post

Apply mp3 songs as ring tone

I had to edit some of my songs on my PC to make them shorter to be applied as a ringtone. I made them about 20-30 seconds long so they would work. WHen I put entire songs on the phone it wouldn't work.
