Question about Televison & Video
I have recenly aquired 2 Presentation 27" zenith's I already have another one identical to the 2. The first works great the next two have the exact same problem, 1 was manuf. in 99, the other 97. They have preset channels that work fine but I have no access to the menu of either one, either on the front panel or by remote. All I get is menu> and can't do anthing else. Is there a reset, or is something seriously wrong with them. It seems odd that both have the exact same problem, they did both come from the same school so I didn't know if it was a setting they put on there. With the remote or front pannel I can adjust volume and channel up or down, but cannot enter a channel # and go to it. On the identical unit that does function, when I change channels there is a red box on the upper right around the # on the two other units sometimes they try to do this but immediately go to a small yellow # on the left. Other than this issue they have good picture and sound. I sure appriciate your insight on this. Jim

SOURCE: Cannot access menu
The tv has lost the menu,in order for the menu to come up in the screen it needs horizontal and vertical sync, the syncs come from the secondary of the flyback and from the vertical Ic.Is rare but We have seen it happen, sometimes you also have an Ic called character generator and it could be bad.You will need the assitance of a servicer for this problem because there are voltages to measure and signal to trace.

If you have a problem with the convergence, believe me, going into the service menu and trying to correct it will only give you large headaches, DO NOT USE THR SERVICE MENU UNLESS YOU ARE A TRAINED TECH!!!! Doing so can result in a complete and total failure of this TV set. I service menu is not for any major changes in any adjustment. It is not the cure all. If your convergence all of a suddenly shifted, it is not a service menu issue. Your problem is the convergence amp IC's. Good Luck

SOURCE: Zenith 44" LCD TV
The yellow spot is due to the BLUE LCD and/or lens assy cracked, reason, to much HEAT! The blue is the darkest color and hold the most heat, so it goes first, always! In some cases it’s only the lens, however most of the time LCD is damage to. Parts are available, however install and alignment is timely. Quick fix is the complete light engine, which for model# E44W46LCD is part# 3141VSN916C, which customer cost is $1,449.27, wholesale for about $1,065.21. Rebuilt, if you can find it around 850.00 to 950.00. However the rebuilt does not always look as good as factory. My advice, TRASH set. This part will fail again in about 3 to 4 years, unless you watch a lot of white video. Remember, on a black or dark picture, all three LCD are blocking 100% of the light, causing extreme heat within the light engine. It’s a bad design.

Be sure that your TV is set to channel 3 or 4 if you are using the RF cable or Video 1, etc if using the Audio/Video cable. The Installation Guide should appear. The "improved" picture that you are seeing is simply the analog throughput, not the digital conversion.

try not to mix areas in the tv chasing several problems.
if the tv has not white noise the screens are without convergence. you are digging in a set with maybe 5 problems the three you told me plus the other posibilities im gessing and i hope you don't have. So slow down with the repair and try step by step. bye now.
