Wurlitzer 1015 OMT CD won't spin correctly

I have a Wurlitzer OMT 50 CD Jukebox (built 1/99) with a problem correctly spinning a CD. After the CD is properly loaded from the carousel it either spins erratically (varies in RPM then stops after a few revolutions) or does not spin at all but you can the CD player trying to move the CD. I am thinking the culprit is the CD player itself and have ordered a new CDM-12 (I did not find FixYa until after I ordered the part). What I need to know is 1, did I order a compatible CD player that will work with the Wurlitzer? 2, was my diagnosis of the problem correct? and if it was not any suggestions or fixes for this besides buying the new CD player would be greatly appreciated (I can always return the part I bought). 3, if my diagnosis was correct how difficult is this part to change out and are is there anything I should be careful doing or things to look out for. The part I bought: http://www.happcontrols.com/amusement/jukebox/95168301.htm Thank you in advance for any assistance I can get on fixing this.

UPDATE: The CDPro-2 did indeed work.  You have to remove the old unit and from the Wurlitzer.  Take your new CDPro-2 and remove the cast bracket from it (you will need a Torx bit to do this).  Take the black bracket off the old unit you removed from the Jukebox and put it on the new CDPro-2 in place of the cast bracket you just removed. Install the new CD player with the old bracket and you are done.  It took me around 20 minutes and 315.00 instead of nearly 500.00 for the part from Wurlitzer.

As far as I know the CD player for a machine of that age was a CDM 12. Your diagnosis is right but the same symptom can be caused by the control pcb underneath the cd player (you can see the led display to the right of the player. That's the control pcb). But generally it is the cd player itself.

However, you should also know that a similar thing happens when the laser eye is dirty from dust. But it doesn't sound like that to me. If it is dust the cd spins properly...stops....spins again....and then gets put back. If it spins as if it is having problems spinning it is usually the laser unit.

It's sensitive to static so touch any part of the metal of the jukebox that is definitely shiney metal to discharge yourself. To remove it you undo the four posi screws at each corner of the oblong unit. It's about the size of a large pack of cigarettes. Lift it up about an inch and you will see three plugs going into the sides. One on one side and two on the other. They just pull off with a bit of wiggling. (make a note where they go). While you are there take note that there are two loose metal spacers that the unit sits on, on the far two corners where the screws came out. They can easily get knocked off when you lift up the unit.

Transfer the black metal bracket piece on the top, to the other unit .....it's just two screws. And replace in the reverse order.

Make sure when you put the new unit back that you have the two metal spacers in place or it wont sit down correctly.

Have fun.

I've just had a look at the link you posted. That's not the right unit. Electronically it is but not the base it is attached to is not for a Wurlitzer unit. It's a rock-ola (I think). If you are in the Uk contact Sound Sense Electronics. They will sort it out for you.

SOURCE: IM TRYING TO COVERT MY WURLITZER 1015 OMT CD

To make the jukebox automatically switch between jukebox CDs and the IPOD source, you'll need the background music adaptor. I have these in stock, but need to know which amplifier is in your machine, as different amplifier types require different BGM units. Please email tech@wurlitzer-ohio.com

This is not a problem....When the machine is idle, it displays the most popular selection, or as the Germans call it, the "hit of the house". I doubt it ever showed "0000", except when it was first turned on and then only for a few seconds. As you make more selections, this "most popular selection" is automatically updated. You can clear the Selection & Credit Computer (SCC) and then it will show "0101" until it recognizes a new "most popular selection". Your manual should tell you how to clear the SCC. Let me know if you need anything else, tech@wurlitzer-ohio.com.

I purchased a used Wurlitzer 1015, question When selecting number 51 is a code number 82 and does not play can you explain me this, what the problem is thanks

The number of Cds in the carousel can be set on the Credit unit to stop it playing fresh air if for example you only have 50 Cds and not a whole 100. Sounds like yours is set to 50 so won't play anything over 50.
I 'think' this is what you do.
On the computer credit unit...
Service Switch ON...Press LT button.
Press 5 on the keyboard once.
Enter 0000
Service Switch off.
Press LT or turn machine off/on.

Wurlitzer OMT, takeout arm continues to cycle all the time

There is a white bracket on the far side of the gripper arm which comes loose so it doesn't click the microswitch beneath it. To prove this press o the bracket when the arm is over the cd magazine and it will stop.

Wurlitzer 1015 OMT Disc spins, then stops....

When the disc is taken from the carousel and put on the player how long does it take for it from the time it is placed onto the player to being returned to the carousel? Also is the cd spinning when its on the player or not spinning at all. The answers to these questions should help in pinpointing the actual problem.
