I have a HP notebook with nowhere to put a disc. It tells me I have 310 errors and it is very slow. What do I do?

Try to buy an external usb cd/dvd rom and a driver magician installation disk. after installing driver magician, it would automatically detect the proper driver that your computer needs for it to run faster and smoother. Select it and press download. Driver magician will automatically download it for you. After installing the driver that you downloaded you should be able to see the difference from the speed before and at the time of installation. Driver magician is available at any software store. Have a nice day and i was hoping that this would solve your problem.

System32\config\system is corrupted. I want to boot from a flash drive. How it is made, the flash drive?

I recommend you to boot from a Windows CD and use the 'repair' option.
Anyways, Flash Drive is a Universal Serial Bus - Mass Storage Device (USB Memory Storage Device) also known as Pen Drive in common.

  • To install/Repair OS using a Flash Drive, you need to follow these steps

Make your flash drive bootable using Bart's mkbt util:
http://www.nu2.nu/mkbt/ ' Alt: mkbt20.zip

  1. Put a bootable floppy disk in your A: drive or create one using Windows.
  2. Download mkbt20.zip and unpack to to new temp folder you create.
  3. Go to the temp folder.
  4. Extract the bootsector from the bootable floppy disk. eg Open a DOS Window and go to the directory where you extracted MKBT. Type:  mkbt -c a: bootsect.bin
  5. The boot sectors from the bootable floppy disk have just been saved to a file in the temp folder you created.
  6. Format the flash drive in FAT or FAT16.
  7. Copy the bootsector to the flash drive. Open a DOS Window and go to the folder where you extracted MKBT. Type:  mkbt -x bootsect.bin Z:
"Z" represents the flash drive drive Letter. So if your flash drive has another drive letter, then change the "Z" accordingly.

Now you should be able to copy the utilities you need to the pen drive.

If you need more Methods/Options, you can check BootDisk

I downloaded ubuntu 10.4 and it was only a data disk and it is asking 4 a password and user name

What you downloaded should have been an ISO file. This is an exact image of a cdrom (or dvd). Burn this image to disk with your favorite cd-writer software. Boot to this image. Most distros are now imaged as "live" cd-rom's. Meaning, that once burned to cd, you can boot right to the operating system from cdrom without installation to the harddrive. This allows you to try the system out before making a commitment to install permanently. Keep in mind, a live cd runs well but very slow compared to a harddrive install. A live cd will often ask you to log in as a guest or as root. Look carefully at the login screen - the user names and passwords will be listed there.

I am a linux user. Personally (and I know this will tick many off) I consider ubuntu to be at the bottom of the pile. For ease of use, especially for linux newbies, I recommend PclinuxOs.

If you find this solution to be helpful, then please take a moment to rate this post. - Thanks.

How to reformat a notebook laptop with no CD-driver?

Remove the hard-disk - it will usually connect via an IDE or SATA-compatible interface. You can then connect it to a computer (internally, or via eSata / USB / 1394 enclosure). You can then format it from that computer.

When you say no CD-driver, do you mean Driver or Drive?

if there's no CD drive, it should either have a floppy drive (in which case, any system book disk can re-format the HDD), or USB-booting capabilities.

If there's no driver, than a Windows 2000 / XP CD should be able reformat the disk - when you boot from it, it will load drivers off the CD. You don't need to install Windows normally, the recovery console can format disks.
A Windows 95/98/ME boot disk/CD will allow formatting, but only in FAT/FAT32 file systems (you will probably want NTFS, which 2000 and XP can create)

I like to download ethernet controller driver but not from driver detective as this require an internet connection to complete what i want to do.

you nedd to go to a website and download an updated ethernet controller driver are useless because you can't even access the internet without the ethernet controller, unless you have a second PC already hooked up to work with the internet, then make a copy of the ethernet driver, and then copy it onto the original PC to get it acces the intenet. Most people may have to go to a computer repair store and ask if they can buy the ethernet controller driver for their OS and PC on a CD or flashdrive, or instead, but an external Ehternet controller device and connect it to your PC via USB.

Slaving my hard disk

hmm..
it's hard to put it on words, but ill try my best.

1st Inserting and removing the IDE cables and power cables :
- 1st of all you should know how to insert the IDE cables and power cables, but before you remove the cables and put it back again, try to observe the color of the cables, the Red color of power cable is parallel to the red color of IDE cable. so when you insert it again, you put it on the same way, the Red color of each cable must be parallel.

2nd putting the jumper:
- try to check the printings on you hard disk at the bottom, and see if there's any tutorials on how to put the jumper.

3rd access the BIOS:
- to access the BIOS, click Del. Hence, before you modify any settings there, MAKE SURE to remember those settings that you modify, so that when there's a trouble you can put it back to it's default setting. Ok let's continue, if your BIOS has an auto-detect it will directly detect the Hard Disk drive that's being installed, if not you will manually detect it on the different Hard Disk setting. After modifying save and exit setting and reboot your PC.

i hope this helps you.

Logtech web cam

HI,

Follow these below steps carefully:
  1. Uninstall any existing camera installations. Click "Start," "Settings," "Control Panel," and "Add/Remove Programs."
  2. Unplug the camera's USB cord from the computer.
  3. Reboot your computer.
  4. Insert your camera's setup/installation CD into the CD-ROM drive. (If the setup program does not start automatically within a few seconds, type d:setup in the "Start & Run" menu at the bottom of your screen, replacing d: with your CD-ROM drive letter).
  5. Follow the instructions described by the camera setup program, and plug in your camera only when prompted. This is usually done after rebooting your computer..
