Most manuals can be found for all types of electronics at www.retrevo.com for free. Look there for the manual to the universal remote and codes for your magnavox. As far as I am aware there is not a standard code number per brand tv used to program universal remotes.
I determined that the Philco Remote Control that I wanted to program for use on a Magnavox tv was too old (20+ Years) and dead. It also did not have the features of a new Universal Remote. So, I tosed the Philco remote and purchased a new Universal Remote Control.
Did extensive checking and finally found out that the remote for Magnavox TB100MW9 analog/digital converter is not made for volume control. The channel changing buttons are half-way operable--sometimes yes, sometimes no--and to think they call this a remote! Therefore you must keep the other TV ready remote that you have been using (tape them together probably) for volume and mostly channel change. I know what Magnavox can do with these remotes - and you know how much more Magnavox I will be buying in the future. Nada, none,---from a very disappointed, frustrated customer.
Depending on the universal remote you can usually program the remote without knowing the codes. One way is to turn on the television, then follow the basic programming instructions for the remote, but instead of entering a code, hit the power button over and over again until the television turns off.
I hope this helps.
