Yep, I have the same problem - bought my phone a week ago on 10 Jan 2009, still struggling to get back off. I'll keep trying!!

Yes, I've struggled for over an hour trying to get the back of my new mobile Samsung J700 phone (bought 15 Jan 2009) , tried a nail file, small knife iat back - nothing until I I saw the kind comment about the soft leather gloves, luckily I had a pair of Nike ones and yes it worked! - Thanks.

Thank you so much for the leather-gloves-solution! I was going to take mine back to the shop until I read that! Came off first time with glove on! Still had to be quite firm with it though. x

Just purchased a J700, my daughter managed to get the battery cover off and insert my old sim card. However up came the message "Insert Sim" so we decided to take it out and try again but it won't come off! We've tried the screwdriver, knife, leather gloves, etc but no success. Any other suggestions?

Get some bluetack and place underneath the samsung logo on the battery cover and press down on it firmly to secure the bluetack, then to remove press down really firmly and slide in an upwards motion.

SAMSUNG SGH-J700 UNLOCKING:
1- Power on pone ,, type : *#7465625#

I want to unblock my samsung j700

Unblock or unlock?

It can be 'unblocked' if its barred but if its 'unlocked' you want then...

BACK UP YOUR FILES BEFORE UNLOCKING
This will also bring the phone to default settings
1. First do a CUSTOM reset: *2767*2878# (star 2767 star 2878 hash)
turn off the phone
2. take out the battery and sim and put wrong network SIM and insert a half of it,
so it won't ask for network password and shows "Insert SIM" message.
Now put the battery ,and switch the phone on .(phone shows "Insert SIM" message.)
3.With out turn off the phone push the sim fully in. At this stage the phone is still asking to "Insert SIM"
4. Make a FULL reset by typing: *2767*3855#(star 2767 star 3855 hash)
5. The phone should reboot working with "wrong" sim inside.
6. Make a Change the NCK password to 8 zeros by typing: *7465625*638*00000000*00000000#
(star 7465625 star 638 star 8zeros star 8zeros hash)
7. Now Disable network lock By typing: #7465625*638*00000000#
(hash 7465625 star 638 star 8zeros hash)
Phone is unlocked (check with *#7465625#)
If network lock is still on reply back

Remove the battery cover. To do so, press the ridged area on the battery cover using your thumb (1) and gently slide it in the direction of the arrow (2). Remove the battery cover.

Place the battery so that the three brass tabs on the end align with the three brass prongs at the bottom of the battery compartment (1). Press the battery down until it clicks into place (2).

Replace the battery cover. Make sure that the battery is properly installed before switching on the handset.

Thanks.
