I am unable to send faxes and recieve, kindly inform me what and how the machine should be installed. i already installed the software but still cannot send fax or receive. thanks.

In order to send, the recieving machine and the sending machine need to handshake (agree on setting, etc.)
If, as your description says the phone is ringing, I presume your are the sender.....what you need to hear is the other machine pick up, and then fax screech noises..... Test by calling the receiving fax by regular phone, and you should hear a pickup and fax noises....if not, your machine would never send.
Issue with Pre- initial ... Check Menu Setup... Check your USB Cable make shure it connect it on both side PC and Fax machine Or Re-install your driver and software for your Printer fax machine
Make sure its set to fax only by pressing the function button and then recieve mode!Keep pressing recieve mode untill it says fax only and press set/ok!Try cleaning the big grey roller at the back of the machine!Good Luck!
Plug a phone in to fax port, Is there a dial tone there also? can you dial a number and make a call from the fax port? You should be able to with a regular phone. If you can't, try plugging in the fax machine to the other port where your phone is plugged in. try sending a fax.If it works there, then the Vonage device or your service itself is the problem.
Try calling your fax machine with a cell phone to see if the fax answers. If not, check that the phone wire to the fax is plugged into the LINE socket, NOT THE PHONE SOCKET on the fax machine. Next, go to the MENU on the fax.You may have to check or change one or more of the following settings by trial-and error to fix the problem. BEFORE YOU CHANGE ANY SETTING, WRITE DOWN OR PRINT OUT THE ORIGINAL SETTINGS. In the MENU, find FAX SETTINGS, FAX SET-UP, or INITIAL SETUP settings. Try changing one or more of the following: PULSE/TONE, RECEIVE MODE, SEND MODE, RING DELAY, RING TIME, OVERSEAS MODE, etc.
have you tried a firmware upgrade, depending what happens with the fax tones depending where the fault is. can you ring into the machine? other thing to try is put a handset in the line and dial out or listin to the line?
so many things come in with problem sending and recieving faxs. have you tired putting on ECM mode?
If you can send and receive faxes from other telephone numbers, do not worry. However is sending that annoying fax has humidity issues with his phone line.

Ensure the phone cord is plugged directly from the wall jack, into the back port of the fax machine marked "Line", "To Wall Jack", or with a wall jack symbol

Remove any other device from the line such as splitters, credit card machines, or telephone answering machines and retry.

Turn Error Correction Mode (ECM) off ,
For turning off ECM > press set up > press ok >go to advanced fax set up by using the arrow key > press ok > press arrow key go to OFF > press ok .
After these steps > try to send a fax to undermentioned number , once it is sent u will recieve a confirmatory fax in return as well .
