It should work in vista but if might not as well. What you can do is right click on the icon and choose run as administrator if it does not work the first time you try it. With vista, make sure you download Service Pack 1 through windows update for incrased compatability with programs.

Hope this helps, I could not find the Operating system requirements for the game so it probably does work with vista.

How can I load the 32 bit program on a 64 bit machine?

Hi,

I will assume you are using Windows Vista or Windows 7, which is a newer operating system then what the game was intended for. Microsoft Windows has a Compatibility feature you can use to run games in Compatibility mode. Once you install the game, you can right click on the game Icon(should be on your desktop) then choose properties. In the properties go to the Compatibility Tab and click Run program in Compatibility Mode and in the drop down box try selecting Windows Xp(any service pack). Also check the Run Program As Administrator. In some cases you can get the older games to run.

This is a game created for Windows 95/98. How do I run it in Windows Vista?

By default it should work, but some games would need you to change its compatibility. After you install it, right click the shortcut on the desktop and go to properties. After that click the compatibility tab, then check the box for 'Run this program in compatibility mode for:" And pick WIndows 95 or 98.

Problem running Civilization IV with Windows Vista

Okay, i play Civ IV on my system and i run Vista as well. Your best bet is the tweak with the compatibility. Find the install folder and look for the .exe that launches the game (civ.exe i think, don't hold me to that though). Right click on it and click on properties, then the compatibility tab. Try dropping the compatibility to win xp and see if that helps. If it doesn't, post your system specs and we'll work from there

I had my comp. fixed and they put windows vista home premium on here and i can't play my old games that need xp what can i do

You can do 2 things:
1 - try to run them in XP mode  - right click on its icon, then Properties, then Compatibility, check 'Run this program in compatibility mode for' and select Windows XP in the drop down menu and finally at the bottom of the compatibility tab, check 'Run this program as administrator'.
2 - install http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtual-pc/ , configure it and in it install XP and all the soft with problems, starting with the games.

My game is loaded but when i click on the icon. it will not play?

Ok, from what I read on Microsoft, this software is NOT compatible with Windows Vista 32-bit or 64-bit. That was found directly from:

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/compatibility/Details.aspx?type=Software&p=School%20Tycoon&v=Take-Two%20Interactive&uid=&pf=0&pi=5&c=PC%20Gaming&sc=Strategy&os=32-bit

However, checking the company's website, it mentions that some games that normally won't run in Windows Vista, can be ran in a "compatibility mode" which mimics Windows XP. Follow these steps and see if this corrects the problem:
  1. Right-click the shortcut for the game.
  2. Click the compatibility tab.
  3. Check the box for "Run this program in compatibility mode".
  4. Select Windows XP SP2 (or Windows 98 if XP does not work) from the drop down menu.
  5. Click Apply
  6. Click OK
  7. Start the game
It should run in Windows XP SP2. If it doesn't you can try Windows 98 to be sure. If neither of these work, unfortunately, you may be unable to play this game.

You're probably not going to find one. Vista lets you run old programs in 'compatibility mode' - actually, so does Windows XP. TSometimes it works, some times not but it's worth a try.

To use, you have to...
  1. right-click on the games' shortcut (either located on your desktop as an icon, or in Start -> All Programs).
  2. Once you right-click on the shortcut, click 'Properties'
  3. click on the 'Compatibility' tab at the top
  4. under the 'Compatibility mode' section, check the box that says 'Run this program in the compatibility mode for:'
  5. then choose 'windows 98' from the dropdown menu
  6. click ok when done
Good luck and I hope this helps! : )
