Check the screen and increase the contrast ans setup some brightness accordingly there. Use the button present on the bottom of screen of Laptop to change it.
It will solve the Screen brightness problem.
And for Screen resolution you will need to change the Display properties by Right click with mouse on Desktop, then go to DISPLAY SETTING and Select the resolution viz: 1024 X 768
or 800 X 600 or 1600 X 900 pixels.
That will give you best screen  resolution. Thanks
Scott

Hi there,

I've seen this before, the main problem is that the resolution is set too low, so it only fills part of the screen.

two ways to solve it.

1. Adjust the resolution to the optimal setting so it fills the entire screen.

2. Find the Picture Scaling option and have it Scale the picture to the entire screen.

To adjust the resolution, now its been a long time since I used windows 98, but I think you got to it by going to your desktop with the background, right click anywhere on the empty space and select properties, now on the window that opens it was the last page, settings I think, you should get an representation of your screen with a resolution lever and color options, pull the resolution lever one point to the right and hit apply and ok, do this until the picture fills the entire screen.

If your laptop has internet connectivity, I could take a look at it over remote support and solve the problem for you.

How do you lighten the screen on the ibm a20m laptop computer?

Hello sandee232,

The following key combinations can be used for screen brightness:
•Fn + PgUp Turn the ThinkLight on or off.
•Fn + Home The LCD becomes brighter.
•Fn + End The LCD becomes less bright.

The screen brightness information can be located inthe IBM ThinkPad A21m User guide:

Where is the wireless button on t42 thinkpad

There's no hardware switch to activate and deactivate the wireless networking, but pressing Fn and F5 brings up a menu that allows you to turn Bluetooth on/off, WiFi on/off or both. It seems like IBM isn't satisfied with standard toggle buttons like other notebook manufacturers - even pressing the Fn and F7 buttons to switch between internal and external screens, brings up a menu with multiple display settings and resolutions.
Hope this helps,
David

How to repair ibm thinkpad t23 laptop screen no light

Yes you have no backlight. The screen is all dark but in the back you can barly see it. You inverter is bad on you thinkpad. You need to replace it. I have a IBM thinkpad 600e and i got one for $9.95 so they can be cheap. They are located under the lcd. When you open it up it is there or can see that it is attached to the light dimmer swicth so you will know that is it. Thats your problem

Dark screen

Your backlight is probably burned out. It is repairable, but I recommend having a computer repair shop take care of it.

Hi my IBM 2635-6AU, ThinkPad 380ED 26356AU screen is dark and i cant see

From what you are stating it seems like your backlight in your lcd needs to be replaced. Plug an external monitor up to your laptop. Press the fn & f key (the one with the picture of a monitor in it.) Your diplay should project to the monitor. Display is ok.....replace the backlight.

Hope this helps you
