My bosch dishwasher doesnt seem to be taking in any water and after being turned on comes up with the check water error light. We have checked the hoses and these are fine as is the water supply. Have checked that the float switch moves freely and appears to be free of debris. Have also tried filling the base of the dishwasher with water which it happily pumps away. Any ideas?
May be open circuit water valve. Appliance will go to error mode if water level has not reached a certain height after a preset time. Check coil continuity with a multi meter. Should be looking for about 200 ohms.

Hi Gilgol, The link below is a Bosh Dishwasher list of error codes, I believe your error code is E3....CHEERS.. http://removeandreplace.com/2015/10/09/bosch-dishwasher-error-codes-how-to-clear-what-to-check/ Bosch Dishwasher Error Code E3
Fault Condition: Not filling with water
Repair or Check: If the water supply cut-off valve on the dishwasher is completely open but the dishwasher will not fill with water then shut off the water supply and unplug the dishwasher. Remove the water fill line and check to see if the water inlet screen valve is plugged up. If so then replace the water valve. Cleaning the screen can make the issue worse so always replace if the screen is clogged. The valve can get stuck open from gunk and therefore flood or overfill.
Parts Required: Water inlet valve Bosch Water Inlet Valve Assembly for Dishwasher
Probably jug impellor part number (424099) from espares, buyspares or bosch direct. No fix unfortunately, this problem manifests as unit starts to fill and motor does not switch on. Eventually the unit overfills and the pump and fill start to alternate and check water light comes on. If this is the fault then this part is the solution it runs in line with the inlet valve and side fill chamber, take the left side panel off (looking from the front) it is tucked away behind the hoses bottom left (white plastic disc with two wire connection tag). Check water light can also come on if the unit is not pumping, if this is the case, repost and I will try and talk you through clearing this fault.
Have you insured the unit is connected to a hot water supply line ? The water will not heat until it start's to circulate and activates the "flow switch" in the Bosch dishwashers.
If it is connected to a hot water supply, try running the hot water at your sink taps before turning on the dishwasher. If you still do not have hot water, check your hot water heater or supply.
If it is indeed connected to a cold water supply it will work, just be prepared for very long wash cycles since the Bosch machines will heat the water at a rate of 2F per minute...it could take a long time to reach 155F.
Let me know what you find out and I'll try to assist you in any manner I can going forward.
sounds like the float is up and unit is in drain mode.if its only humming that is the problem. there is water in. the base.take off side panel and reach in the base with something to dry the bas out. normally this is caused by a leaking hose. if this doesnt fix problem post the question follow up. thanks
it is probably going to be a grimy door thermostat between the inner and outer panel. its hooked into the back of the soap dispenser. someone would have to take the outer panel off then clean wipe away the caked grime from the thermostat and put it back in its place. if this doesnt fix it then it could be a heat assembly problem or timer problem. in that case you would need an appliance tech out
CHECK UNDER THE SINK AND MAKE SURE THE WATER IS COMING INTO THE FILL HOSE. DISCONNECT AND RUN IT INTO A BUCKET TO CHECK. THEN IF THAT DOESNT WORK THENHIT THE DRAIN AND CANCEL BUTTON THEN START MACHINE.
