This usually happens if the printer is not aligned properly. When you replace the cartridges, it prints a colorful sheet of paper. You need to place the paper face down on scanner glass and press OK button.
This completes alignment and the printer wont print test page again.
Every time you put a new cartridge, the printer does a test page. That is because it is aligning your cartridge. Now what you need to do is take that test page and put it in your scanner as indicated on the test page. Then press "scan" on your printer. The printer should then do a scanner alignment and you should be able to scan. If you do not have that test page, print another one. Go to start, settings, find
printers and faxes and open it. You will see your printer. Right click
on the printer and you will see a menu. Open Properties. Find General-

Thanks for using FixYa. Please check that your printer has paper, has no paper jams and is currently set on the ‘use printer online’ settings by right clicking property and then setting it from there. Also please check that you have selected the correct default printer and drivers in the printer options. If there is any paper jams clear it. You can also check the few things like--- Please check that both ends of the cable which connects the printer to the computer are connected properly. To print a test page right click on printer properties and then click the 'Print Test Page' button and see if you get a test page printed properly. If you do, this indicates that the printer is properly connected to the computer and the computer has the drivers installed.

Disconnect the printer or at least be sure it is turned off.
I'd do both and reinstall the CD software program that came with
the printer. When the software program asks you to connect the
printer to the USB port, do so and it should again work properly.
Hope this helps. Bud
which u on printer u get test print , that page u put on scanner and press sceen button on top of printer , after scan page printer understand cartridge if work perfect
I had the same problem and being helped by HP operator.
first take the USB cable out of your computer, then put it off and then on again...it starts to print the test page again...then after the printer stops printing, put the just printed testpage face down on the scanner(glas) and press scan manually...after the scanning(you wait till that is finnished) and then put the printer off and on again....then connect the USB cable to the computer and that will stop the printer from printing the testpage every time you startup your printer....
