Reset to factory settings blackberry curve

Whether you are ready to upgrade your blackberry, give it to someone else or throw it out all together, you should make sure that any personal data has been removed first. Here's an easy way to ensure that you are not throwing out, giving away, or selling a phone with your data still on it.

  • 1

From your blackberry, scroll down to the options icon. (This is the icon shaped like a wrench) Push in the trackball or the scroll wheel to select this.

  • 2

Once you are in the options menu, scroll down to the security option and press in the trackball or scroll wheel to enter into the security options menu.

  • 3

Once in the security options menu, locate the general settings option and press in the trackball or scroll wheel to enter the general settings menu.

  • 4

Great! Now you should be in the General Settings menu. At this point you can press the menu button on the blackberry. Its the button next to the green phone button. Once you press the menu button on the blackberry, you will see a menu come up. scroll to the "Wipe Handheld" option and press in the trackbacll or scroll wheel to confirm your selection. There will also be an option to remove all 3rd party applications. Check this option to remove those as well.

How to move applications on a BlackBerry Tour

With its default setup, when you download an application to your BlackBerry Tour, it goes into the Downloads folder. However, this isn't where most users want to keep their applications -- typically they move them to the Applications folder, the Home folder, or a custom folder.

To move an application, highlight its icon with the trackball and press the BlackBerry button (the one with seven dots to the left of the trackball) and select "Move To Folder" from the menu that pops up. A list of all of your folders will appear; select the folder you want to move it to and either press the trackball or the Enter key. The application will disappear from the current folder and it can now be found in the folder you moved it to.

You can also move the application around within that folder, if you want to switch the order of programs. This can be useful for the Home folder if you're using the Zen layout, because the first six programs in the Home folder appear on the main screen. To change the order of applications within a folder, hover over an application you want to move, press the BlackBerry button, and choose "Move." Then go to the position you want to place the folder, and press the trackball.

If you want your downloaded applications to go somewhere else rather than the Downloads folder, you can specify a location by clicking the BlackBerry button when you're in the Home folder and selecting Options. Scroll down to Downloads Folder, press the trackball or Enter, and choose a new folder to save your downloaded applications to. (Be sure to save your change when exiting the Options screen.)

Ball on blackberry wont navigate up or down

Hi. BlackBerry smartphone trackball fails to roll in a particular direction because, debris is lodged in the trackball.
The trackball user interface found on certain BlackBerry smartphones is similar to the trackball used in a mouse in a desktop computer.
Using for certain period debris comes in contact with the trackball and affects the usability of the BlackBerry smartphone, rapidly roll the trackball up, down, left, or right to potentially correct the problem.
If rapidly rolling the trackball does not correct the problem, please contact your wireless service provider for support options.
I hope this information will be helpfull.

    Bold keyboard issues

I had the same problem and have looked all over the internet for a solution, so I know how desperate you can get when your Blackberry isn't working properly anymore. In my case I have found the solution. The cause of the problem might be dirt or moisture underneath your trackball and keyboard.

you have to disassemble your Blackberry completely. So remove the 6 screws on the back with a Torx 6, lift of the bezel, lift out your motherboard and then lift up the trackball cover so you can remove the trackball (see the videos on youtube). Now you can clean the area underneath the trackball, mine was really dirty. In fact, there was dust everywhere inside my Blackberry. I cleaned all contacts and the trackball with a cuetip with some alcohol and used a cotton swab to make them dry again. When I put everything back together, it worked like a charm!!

It's really not that hard to do this, so don't be scared and just give it a try! Follow the instructions on youtube (for disassembling and cleaning) accurately and don't force anything!

    I hope this will help.

The speedball wont move to the left

Your trackball is damaged you need to get a replacement for it or you can pop it out and see if anything is just shifted out of place in that case you can just shift it back into place and carefully put it back in and then it should work just fine.

Blackberry 8830 wont track down - trackball stuck

This is usually caused by the trackball getting dirty.

Use a q-tip dipped in IPA and clean it. Roll the trackball around and swab the q-tip around to clean.

If cleaning fails then you will need to replace the Blackberry trackball.

Check the following link on instructions on how to do that.

I just had this happen to me. I blew air (from an air can used to clean keyboards, etc) into the trackball and it started working fine. It seemed there was dust or something stuck inside. Good Luck!

    Keys Wont Work

Did your trackball fall off and then you replaced it? If so you might have also lost the button under the trackball which makes the trackball click when pushed. This can be repalaced. However the part is very hard to find. Try some local repair stores hoping they have one in stock. if they do it shouldn't be more than $50
