Compliancy : Wi-Fi®
Network Support : 802.11b/g
Wireless Technology : Wireless LAN

That is the internal wireless so no you dont you need any thing to set up a wireless connection
You need to set up your wireless network

Or you should have got an ethernet cable with the router usually small yellow, blue or blue. plug this cable into one of the ports on the back of your router then the other end of cable to the ethernet port on side (i think) of laptop anc conect phone line from main box to router. You dont need no software just switch on router wait a couple of minutes till all lights on router turn green and click on your internet explorer done!

You can assign ip with 2 method 1 is manually and other is automatic .
If you set manualy ip you must need to set gateway as your printers and other computer's gateway.
Subnetmask is same in all system.
For example if your netgear lan ip is 192.168.1.1 then your printer ip 192.168.1.5 sunet mask as 255.255.255.0 and gateway is 192.168.1.1
Other computer's ip 192.168.1.6 subnet mask 255.255.255.0 gateway 192.168.1.1
Make sure the printer driver installed and it is in network.
IF you want ip from netgear then you need to enable dhcp in it.
Connect your router to computer with ethernet cable then you can access it with following default link.
http://192.168.1.1 or
http://192.168.0.1 or
http://192.168.15.1
or
http://192.168.2.1
If you are not able to access it with above ip then check your computers ip address gateway ip is your router ip try with it.
Then it ask for user name and password.
Type user as "admin" and password as "admin" or "password" or blank.
Then you can see configuration page of router.

Then click on dhcp then enable save settings and restart netgear.
Then in printer set ip get automatic from router.
Let me know if you need further assistance.
Thanks for using FixYa.

You have two questions thrown. And I will try to answer one after the other. You said you have wireless card. If you have no WIFI in your location, your wireless card could not be used so you need a router from the Broadband connection which your satellite computer will have a wire connection from the router. If you have WIFI booster connected from the router, your wireless card will be used without wire connection direct from the router.

Purchased a Toshiba L300D-12L and I cannot access my Netgear Wireless Router at home

do you see the router in the available networks?
if so, router is perhaps MAC adress protected (that is not appearing as it is for wep under
available netwoks.
access your router config, usualy typing http://192.168.1.1 on a working computer connected
search for reference to mac access
and ad your toshiba's wifi mac to the list of allowed hardware

PC repaired, can't find my original installation discs for my netgear 54 Mbps Wireless Router WGR614 v4. Is there anywhere I can download the necessary info? I'm using the router on my laptop OK. Thanks

You should be able to download everything you need. Just go to the manufacture's website, NetGear.com, go to Support>Downloads>select your product>find your V4 listed>download installation. If you cannot find it, just email support and request a CD, be sure to include your name/address/everything necessary.

on your computer try to reinstall the device driver for wireless. try to connect the ethernet cable directly to the computer. if you have internet access, then most likely your netgear router needs to be reconfigured. you need to contact your internet service provider or router manufacturer for the reconfiguration of your router. mostly likely the security settings of the router needs to be changed.

By the sounds of it the router is Wireless-G standard. This has a theoretical max speed of 54Mbps. If you wish to increase wireless speeds you would need to upgrade to Wireless-N standard. Do would need to change the wireless in the pc or laptop also. This should give a theoretical max speed of 100Mbps.
Ethernet cable will be cheaper!
