Question about Philips BLUETOOTH HEADSET Headset

Open Question

Philips bluetooth headset loses connection.

I have a philips bluetooth headset that came with a pendant style receiver and a separate transmitter. It is about 6 months old and all of a sudden the receiver won't power down and it loses the connection every 5-10 minutes. It eventually comes back on after a couple of minutes,. When I charge the receiver up it flashes red and then green. It used to be solid red until it was charged and then both lights went out. The charge seems to last for days when not in use so I don't think it is a bad battery. I tried to take the battery out to see if that would mayb e reset it or something but it is wired in so no dice,. Any ideas? Thank you. Bob

SOURCE: Philips 37PF7320A/37 won't turn on

That blinking led is an error code for the audio standby board in the set. It should not go out this soon and yes it should last longer.

SOURCE: DVP642/37 Power light flashing constantly.....won't power on

This origional post has been up since June 2006. The answer(s) about the 1000mf capacitor are right on target and has helped people even up to today (Aug. 26, 2008). It worked for me and the following might help others.

First find the power supply board. It is the one with the power cord attached to one end (make sure you unplug all power first!). This power supply has about nine minature electrolytic capacitors in the output of the supply. There is a large electrolytic near the input (elecrtical cord). Disregard this one and go to the other end of the board. The 1000mf, 10volt component you are looking for is near the middle of the 9 or so capacitors on this end. It will probably be the largest in this group (because it has the highest electrolytic value of the group) and the board surface will have an I.D. number of C316 adjacent to it.

DO NOT ASSUME THAT THE CAPACITOR WILL HAVE ANY SIGN OF A BULDGE, DISCOLORATION, OR ANYTHING THAT WOULD IDENTIFY IT AS A FAILURE! In my case the replacement solved the problem but there was absolutely no signs on, or around the capacitor. After replacing it, I checked the old capacitor with a (ANALOG) multimeter. The test showed leakage across the capacitor. In other words it was still working but had a high resistance path through the capacitor. This is exactly what I expected because when I checked the output voltage of the supply to the other 2 boards, voltage was present but was reading about 1/2 of what it was supposed to. The markings on the front (output) edge of the board indicate a -24 volts between ground (pin 4) and pin 3. Mine was reading approximately -12 to -13 volts.

I hope this will help others. As a matter of interest, this is an electrolytic capacitor and you should notice that the component taken out is marked negative ( - ) near one lead. Be certain to install the new one with the negative lead in the same manner! Also, any replacement you might find with a higher voltage rating should be at least 16 volts but a 200 or 1000 volt rating will work fine. Although, the higher the rating, the larger it will physically be. You probably would not be able to physically install anything over 50volt rating. The 35volt rating seems to be very available and a very good choice. With regard to microfarad (mf) value, 1000mf are very common but a 1200mf to 1500mf in a power supply circuit will work fine. Do not use anything less than 1000mf. Hope this helps others. This is going to contiue for this Phillips product until they all die.

yeah hedenram is right. my problem was that i was trying to pair something WITHOUT the headset in pairing mode. just switching it on doesnt put the headset in pairing mode and it will reject the 0000 passkey even if this is correct. it is vital when you turn on you hold the power button til it flashes red/green and then it will be in pairing mode and accept the 0000. the only way i found this was in the instruction booklet which i thought i had chucked away

SOURCE: red light flashes

This is a well known and very common problem with all Philips plasma tvs 42 and 50 inch. The problem is they used under rated capacitors in the power supply. If you have electronics experience or a friend that is, remove the cover and look in the back for malformed or leaking capcitors. Replace them and see if that takes care of the problem. The caps only cost $2 or $3 each, so the cost to try this is pretty reasonable although you might have an added cost of buying beer for your electronics friend. If this does not fix your problem you are down to replacing boards that can be purchased around $300 ea.
I have found my set will come on "finally" after I get the back of the set warmed up and the bad caps finally charge up. Hope this is useful.

What are connections and connectors for audio output to wireless headset

Hi Richard,

First, you'll need to determine which type of input(s) the wireless headset transmitter has. Most common is the 3.5mm stereo plug designed to slip into the headphone jack of a TV, MP3 player, cell phone, etc. Some transmitters have adapters in the box to allow connecting to the Left and Right channel RCA / phono style jacks found on other components such as CD, DVD, VCR, Stereo receivers / amplifiers, etc.

You'll need to find OUTPUTS of the CD and TV that match the plug on the wireless headset transmitter. If yours doesn't include adapters to go from say the RCA jacks mentioned above - to whatever connector that the transmitter input has - you'll need to go to your local Radio Shack store or similar store to see if they can provide an adapter that will allow you to connect.

Here are a couple plugs / adapters:

Above: A "3.5mm stereo patch cable". Your transmitter may have a cable with an end like this to plug into the TV's headphone jack.

25683604-gy4zxbmnj5ndu14q12lmwneo-2-1.jpg Above: A "3.5mm female stereo jack to RCA stereo male plug" adapter that would allow the top cable to connect to the Left and Right audio output jacks on a typical CD, DVD, etc. device.

These cables / adapters are typically $5 to $10 maximum.

I hope this helps and good luck!

Does the shb4000 pair with more than one device

Not at the same time, but after you paired it with one transmitter, you could pair it with another. Make sure the first transmitter is switched off, because as long as it is connected to a transmitter, it won't accept another source.

Great sounding speaker, but nothing but trouble with the bluetooth. It appears that I can only have one device paired at a time. In order to connect another device, it breaks the current pairing. A

Yes this is a 'feature' of Bluetooth. (I have never seen the point of Bluetooth... Wi-Fi does everything it does, but better !)

It DOES usefully enable a phone or tablet to play though headphones or speaker and to use a headset 'cordlessly'...

Consider instead a 'Bluetooth Receiver' (under US $10 from China) connected to a FM Stereo Bug (Transmitter) - Then you can use any number of quality FM Radios (including phones with built in FM) up to 50 metres or so away...

Hi, I purchased two units of logitech cordless

Your friend should be able to use the headset if your friend's computer has Bluetooth feature. THe computer will send and receive the Bluetooth signals with one transmitter/receiver like your computer does and then connect to the wireless lan with a different transmitter/receiver system on a different frequency. Just make sure your friend's computer has Bluetooth feature turned on and then setup the headset by the "pairing" process.

The Jabra A210 keeps dropping the connection between the devices.

My solution is to connect the jabra audio jack to the speaker output of my receiver. Jabra need it to detect a source. If the connection to the source is cut, jabra waits around 30 seconds and if nothing happend jabra stop the transmittion. I hope that helps.
