This types of problems regularly occurs in epson printcartridges.as there is a ink pulling pipe in the printer to keep the ink in the cartridge to flow fluently.that pipe sometimes pull much ink then required and makes the cartridge empty and so it shows the cartridge empty or stops printing ink due to less ink in the cartridge for printing.and this happens.insert new cartridge again and it will start printing.but this problem can occur again.also get your printer serviced before replacing the cartridge again.

advise : go for hp printers if you want to avoid this kind of problems further.
thanks.

This may or may not work on your model

"Press and hold the paper feed, paper switch and the power switch.

Once the power light and paper light flashes twice and the other lights are flashing release the paper feed and paper switch "and then press the paper feed switch".

The power, paper and ink lights will flash twice. At this point the protection counter has been reset."

The Protection Counter referred to above prevents you from printing once the printed pages counter reaches a predetermined threshold.

If this doesn't work, let me know.

Worldvet

    Hello,

Would you be willing to work on this problem so more until we discover what oddity is happening to you?

I'll work with you and may bring another expert friend of mine to confer on your problem.

I'm not ready to give up on this problem if you're not. The problem we have as experts using email is getting to the root of an issue. It usually takes more than a few emails to say the least. I was taking a shot in the dark with what I offered to you which is a reset trick. There are others we can try so we can unglitch your printer.

    Regards,
    Worldvet

I am using non genuine ink cartridges in my epsom stylus printer which have been working perfectly well but now it saying my ink cartridges are not recocnised all cartridges are insrted oroperly what could...

ALL…. Epson & Brother Requires Genuine Cartridges. !!!!!!!!
That sounds like your problem. Maybe you were able before, but not now.

In Purchasing Epson's CX 5400, CX4600, & CX7400 and more, I found out that Epson does not like Generic Printer Cartridges. I also Purchased a Brother MFC-240C All-In-One InkJet Printer. That also does not like Generic Print Cartridges. Color that should be Yellow, will turn out Green, Blue Brown, etc.

These printers have a CHIP that will detect if it is Generic or Genuine. When they see it’s Generic Cartridges, it will print lines thru the words, stripes across the picture and also do a mix match with the colors. It also will not let you print anything, if only one of the cartridges is empty.

I wanted to print only Black, and would not let me, because I did not have any ink in one of my cyan cartridges. Go figure.

That's what these Companies do., so they can keep selling the ink cartridges. Some Printers, are able to use Generic, and some are refillable. Some you can refill them up yourself and I heard, quite MESSY.

So I learned, thru trial and error, that you must use the ORIGINAL Genuine Cartridges for these PRINTERS. Some people say some models work fine compatible, but not mine.......

I had to replace the printer, but Epson, Lexmark & Brothers are always on sale. My Brother & Epson cost me $50.00 with Rebate. .

IF YOU ARE USING GENERIC CARTRIDGES, MAYBE IT WOULD BE BETTER IF YOU DISABLE THE INK MONITOR.

This is the only advice I can give you.

The next step would be to disassemble the Epson, and clean the Pads/Heads. Click on link below.:

I located a page on http://www.fixyourownprinter.com forum, which had plenty of details about similar issues.
