KV- 32V40 Fusible resistor always blow-up

One day Iwas watching the ppv movie and suddenly I heard a clicking sound from my tv and shutdown no display or anything, just flashing red "LED". I opened the cover and found that the fusible resistor was open. I replaced it 3x and 3x blew up. Any idea where the problem is?

Re: KV- 32V40 Fusible resistor always blow-up

Hey...glad im not the only one in this mess....thank god i have an electronics background as i my offer some help. i found that Q601/Q602 were shorted, replaced with NTE2582 transistors, but also there is another fusible resistor located next ti the transformer on the powersupply board(board G i believe)same as the other(1/4-1/2 watt .1-.15 omhs)well i thought all was well until i pluged it in and both fusible resistors and the transistors blew right away....led me to the H-OUT transistor, right next to the flyback, on the main board...sure enough it was shorted as well. that part is 2SC5148(not the NTE part #), , and will put it in after work tommorow...looks good so far and will, even with my mistake will cost several hundred dollars less than taking it to a tv shop...and thousands less that the plasma screen the wife wants....this 32inch has been good to me for 9 years, and im going to help it along for another if possible. you cant email me at if youd like.....thanks and good luck

Sony tv wont turn on, standby light just flashes

check for an open resistor on the power supply, it is actually a fusible resistor, (white) if open, then check the converter, some sets have two separate and some have it as one. it will be on a heat sink on the power supply. if shorted then check for a shorted horizontal output transistor and repair cold solder joints on the horizintal drive transformer which is the real cause of this problem

No picture, no sound, stand by timer light flashing

Need a little information here...

1. The TV remains on, yet there is no picture and no sound? Or does the TV turn off altogether?
2. How many blinks does the standby light give? Are they continuous? Is it the same each time, or random?
3. Did anything else happen before this, or did it just happen one day?

Answer that and I'll try to help with what I know.

This problem is indicative of a problem with one of three (of the same) ICs. Give me a bit more info and I'll give you some links to the solution, or help you myself.

Sonykv-32v40 red ligt blinking black screen and soud good

Take it to a shop... It's a good bet that the jungel Ic, crt driver Ic or something in the HV has failed. Could be also that the crt itself is failing. If that's the case a tech can test it with a B&K and know for certain.
Also, if you want to save a few dollars take it in to them, don't make them come and get it - it just drives the price up for a pu/del charge.

Sony KV-32S36 32" suddenly stopped working, no picture or sound

Check soldered in fuse R607 in power supply circuit =
If open, replace it and bad converter xistors ( 2SC4834)
Next, replace shorted horizontal output transistor w/ first Quality.
Solder any / all bad connects, esp.horiz drive to base of horiz.
o / p xistor. Soldering is critical or it will blow up again......

Stand-by LED blinks-no picture or sound

the symptom is usually caused by a breakdown in the power supply circuit. in most modern receivers (transistorized and/or ic), it may also be caused by a breakdown in the horizontal deflection circuits (hor. oscillator, pre-drive, or drive circuits). supply voltages for the tuner, video if,sound if, and vertical output are usually supplied by the horizontal output circuit. but if you doesnt know anything about these stuffs, better bring it to a qualified service tecnhician

Tv shuts off - sony kv-32v40

They are very relevant because you might have a high voltage ark from the output transformer or a shorted picture tube, the ark or high voltage leak you might not see but the shorting of the picture tube you will when it does it,being careful remove the back cover and leave the back open, turn the tv on and wait for the moment the shutdown takes place and look at the neck of the picture tube and thru the glass of the tube you might see the moment it shorts out and the set shutsdown,if you see something in the neck of the tube is because the tube is bad, take a look at the conections in the crt board maybe one of them is loose, the arking or leakage from the output transformer is dangerous and it should be observed from a safe distance(10 feet),if you notice something in the output transformer he will need to be replaced, both situations involved high voltage areas and if you are not too familiar with tv service you should get the assistance of a servicer. It is a good idea to resolder the main board if the two possibilties do not show or when the main problem is corrected.Let Us know how it goes or if you need more information.
