You have to completey disassemble the front end of the trimmer, remove the clutch housing, clutch, control cables, etc. before the pulley is exposed where you can install a new rope..... Check the shaft to see if there is something stuck in there. You can pull the wire shaft out to check. It is wire but looks like a small cable. Good luck...Lee
