Question about Seagate 250GB Barracuda 7200.10 ATA-100 Internal s - 16MB Cache (5-pack) 250 GB EIDE Hard Drive

SECOND HARD DRIVE NOT RECOGNIZED

SEAGATE BARRACUDA 7200.10 250GB HD 8MB SERIAL ATA-300 0EM---WINDOWS XP PRO.
ONLY TWO SATA CONNECTIONS ON MOTHER BOARD-ONE CONNECTED TO MAIN HD W/OP SYS. I CONNECTED THIS SECOND HD WITH A SATA II CABLE TO THE OTHER. WINDOWS ALERTS THAT NEW HARDWARE DETECTED, BUT THERE IS NO ICON/LETTER LISTED IN "MY COMPUTER"? I CAN FEEL AND HEAR THE HD RUNNING, SO IT HAS POWER. CHECKED DEVICE MANAGER AND IT LISTS THE NEWLY ATTACHED HD AND SAYS IT'S RUNNING PROPERLY? HOWEVER, CHECKED DRIVE MANAGER AND IT'S NOT THERE? DO I NEED TO DO SOMETHING IN THE BIOS? I HAVE INSTALLED IDE HDs BEFORE WITH NO PROBLEM, BUT SATA DRIVES APPEAR MORE DIFFICULT. APPRECIATE THE HELP, JOHN

Change the settings of you IDE drives in your BIOS. Set your secondary boot device to HDD1. Also make sure that your primary HDD is set to master and the secondary HDD is slave. The jumper is found at the back of the hard drive where you connect the power and IDE cables. Try this and post back as to how it went..

New hard drive not recognized on mac pro

OK what you could do is connect up that drive to a PC and format it with NTFS, & then put it on the Apple, it should then "See" the drive. Then you can work on it via the Apple.

Seagate Barracuda 7200.9 SATA driver problem

If the laptop is also XP, the drive should be recognized without problems. Sometimes this may not happen if the disk is unusually partitioned (could happen if you manually dual-booted it with Linux, for example). Verify the enclosure is working properly and has enough power supplied to, and that it appears in Device Manager. If all this applies, the enclosure must be considered working and the problem might be in the partitioning or disk access.

In XP Pro, do Start > Run Command > DISKMGMT.MSC and press OK. See whether the disk appears (if it doesn't, it's the enclosure, or its drivers - or the disk was dying and is now dead, but that's not very likely), select the NTFS or FAT32 partition - ignore any others - right click and mount the unit as drive, say, G.

If it doesn't work but the partition is found, you may need a more powerful tool such as Paragon Partition Manager.

Seagate 160GB SATA Hard Drive Installation.

Hi, Was the original 20Gb HD also a SATA or was it installed as an IDE? Try installing a fresh clean Windows rather than the restore disc. However, you will need the drivers for the SATA 160Gb and press F6 when Windows installers ask you to. Post back how things turn up or should you need further information. Hope this be of some idea/help. Good luck and kind regards.

Windows XP not recognizing the hard drives

On the first drive that does sound DOA if you bought it new, is less than one year old and the warranty hasn?t been voided you should be able to get a refund from the manufacturer. Second drive, have you tried connecting the drive enclosure to another computer as a test? If it can?t read the drive data either I would suspect the enclosure electronics are faulty. Also have you tried the firewire interface yet? Semper Fi, are you active or former?
