These kinds of problem descriptions are pretty useless, you know. What email program do you use, what operating system, what is happening when you try to send or receive email (error messages)...

You really need to give some better information before anyone can help solve problems.

That being said, make sure your email program is correctly set up. It needs to know server information for your service provider and your login information.

My wife has an HP Desktop using Windows 7 and email client of ATT and Yahoo

This may work for you: Along the top of Yahoo email, you will see buttons Delete, Reply, etc. There is a button in the row with 3 rectangles and a drop down arrow. click on the button and change the setting to "Page by Page (classic". After Yahoo email resets, go in and select the button again to get the style you want.

Another approach may be to sign out of yahoo email, restart the web browser and see if the problem is resolved.

I just switched to u-verse and have set up an e-mail account using the email adress they gave me. This uses yahoo. That is working ok. However, since I don't like getting my email that way I decided to...

if you can get emails and cannot send one it means that the outgoing SMTP numbers that you put in in your Outlook is incorrect. The best way to resolve this is to ask U-verse for the right SMTP URL for that is the one that is keeping you to send an email.

I am connected to the internet but my emails can not connect. Yahoo aol any emails.

Are you trying to check mails from the website, if yes then it should work if the internet is working. If you are using any email client like outlook or outlook express then check for the settings- incoming, outgoing server etc.

Can't read my emails from my main AOL email account. It opens and just says ''beep!'' My other emails work.

Don't lose it!; more than likely email was sent with unreadable formatting. Therefore it may be better that you can't open it. have sender try again if possible. p7of9

Go online to your webmail and see if your password works. If it does, it an issue with your email client ie Outlook, Outlook Exoress etc. Then you would need an password recovery program..

Email

Ports make no difference, but the fact that you are accessing the email account from 2 different systems is likely the issue. If you are reading the email in outlook or outlook express on both systems, the mail is being downloaded from the server to each system and deleted from the server.

Two ways to resolve this.

1. Check email at work via webmail interface so that the items are not downloaded from the server.

OR

2. Set the email client settings to retain mail on the server.

example:

http://email.about.com/od/outlookexpressbackuphelp/qt/et_server_copy.htm

Personally, I use option #1.

When I check my charter account on my desktop, I use outlook. From my laptops, I use www.charter.net to check that account.
