Question about Panasonic CT-36G34 36" TV

1 Answer

Grey screen, white lines

My Sylvania tv isnt too old...3 years probably. We were watching and it was fine... then the next morning we turned it on and the screen is grey with a bunch of flickering horizontal lines about a half an inch to an inch apart....the sound still works...but the display and menu options only show up when on Game mode. Before this there was squeeling happening on occassion... we tape shows...and the VCR continued to tape and work fine...we would watch the shows on a different tv and they turned out fine. whats wrong with my Tv :(

check the vertical section in your t.v, may one capacitor short or open, in some cases it maybe on the screen board attach on crt, checking all the right voltage if present on the RGB, or try to look for open solder on the sections mention, or maybe the screen voltage adjust is set to high, gradually minimize it by turning it low, located at the flyback body..

Only suggestion is if set was plugged in when you did what you did--unplug it and any box or receiver plugged in and wait a while--plug back and let the equipment try to reboot.

Screen doesnt work, sound works fine. It worked fine last night but wouldnt turn on this morning, why?

is the screen dark?, if is it, see if the TRC filament is light, if is it afirmative, turn a little clockwise the fly back knob that say SCREEN and watch if there is a horizontal line at midle of the tv screen. if is it, your problem is in the vertical stage.

I have a Sylvania 42 inch Plasma HD TV. It is 3

Hello

Before taking this to a local repair person, I suggest you check with your cable provider. See if they are having trouble with their HD transmission and then have them test your lines. Out here in Arizona with have constant problems with HD due to heat, rodents and poor installations. Your DVR only recorded the problems that were on your set. If these prove fruitless then take the TV to a reputable repair person.

Good Luck

WHITE LINES

Hi kmb0516.
Depends how old the set is, if it is more than 5 years old, time to tell it goodbye, if it is less, might be worth fixing.

I believe the problem is in the vertical output section, it sounds like the picture has shrunk.

Hope this helps, Greg.

Sylvania 6842-PEM Flickering Problem

Something is breaking down. Possibly a specific ceramic capacitor on the main power pcb that has been troublesome. Usually there is just a loud pop and the screen goes dead. If the set is less than a year old it is still on parts warranty and the technician could just change circuit boards until the problem is gone.

White Screen w/ White Lines, Sound On, Turns off after 2 or 3 secs.

Hi If you mean thin white lines, this is is an indication of a problem in the Horizontal Drive ckt. most likely the Damper Diode has opened or shorted, this would cause the visual symptom and then the set would shut down, unfortunately this is a problem best left to a qualified technician to repair, hope this helps.
