I backed up my acer netbook running windows 7 home edition onto a toshiba 500 mb external hard drive using the NTI Backup Now EZ software provided - it was the version for Windows XP that came with it. I didn't realize not compatible with Win 7. I thought I saw a message saying "backup now complete"; walked away couple minutes; came back, my computer was powered down, and I can't power it back up. Have unplugged/re-plugged; removed battery-plugged. What happened & how can I fix it?
The Aspire One is a netbook produced by
Acer; it does not come equipped with a CD ROM drive, so a traditional
hard drive reformat and Windows reinstallation is not possible without a
peripheral storage device. An external USB CD or flash drive will suffice, however.Difficulty:Moderate
Instructions
Consider what data you still need from your Acer Aspire One's hard drive. Save the files to an external USB device.
Restart the Acer Aspire One's operating system. Wait for the Acer logo to appear on the LCD screen.
Press the "Alt" and "F10" keys at the same time to bring up the recovery menu. Press "Enter."
Click "Next." Follow the prompts that appear on the screen to restore the operating system back to factory settings.
Use the drop-down boxes to select the time zone and language information for your Acer Aspire One. Restart the netbook when you are prompted to finish restoring the computer.
Connect the external USB device to your Acer Aspire One and transfer the data you saved earlier back to the netbook.

I have scanned the disk as was recommended on another post. I have also lowered my Network setting to the lowest on the slider provided and restarted the computer to activate the setting. I could find no button to turn it on of off as suggested on the same post. None of these solutions worked.
I have scanned my disk for errors. I have also tried backing up my system with the Networking security slider set to its lowest setting as well. I still need a solution.
