You got new plates they offer no support by phone? Could be some kind of dirt or contamination, the transformer could be shorting or sparking, write me at wbwill@sbcglobal.net or look me up on allexperts.com, it may be worth mailing to me and let me estimate repairs,

I JUST REPLACED THE OZONE PLATE IN MY XL15, THE GLASS PLATE HAD CRACKED BUT, NOW THE NEW CERAMIC PLATE WHISTLES LOUDLY WHEN ON ANY SETTING LESS THAN MAXIMUM?

Remember the glass plate is thicker than the ceramic. The whistling may actually be arcing of the metal tabs to the plate. Take the plate out and push the metal tabs in and towards the space where the plate sits. This will make the fit tighter and eliminate your problem. Re-install the plate.

There is a blue spark and bug zapping sound-looks like its sparking on the ceramic ozone plate. The place looks fine-no cracks.

It's doing exactly what it's supposed to do. The bug zapping sound is from dust particles in the air, that's being pulled thru the unit. However, it should not being doing in continuously (unless your home is really dusty), it may simply need cleaning. Cleaning the unit, about once a month is recommended.

Hope this helped you.

My Flair smells like it is burning and the plates are making a loud sparking sound

What's burning is probably your high voltage transformer. When your glass plates get a crack in them, they will spark. You probably have a burned out high voltage transformer. That's what produces the ozone. Helpful hint...........the high voltage transformer is also the one used in bug zappers

HELLO AND GOOD MORNING I HAVE A FLAIR AIR

Open the back and change the Ozone plate. then slide out the ION plate and clean it with denatured alcohol. If no light inside, you may have to replace the bulb and / or starter. Hope that helps.

Sparks shooting down sides of ozone plates

Disconnect the power and give it a good cleaning with a SOFT BRISTLE PAINT BRUSH. Outside is best. Blow it out gently with canned air after you brush the dirt loose.

Clicking is likely sparking/arcing rather than something mechanic

Sparking is what it does; Google the words ionizer purifier sparking and you will be let to explanations on how they use sparking to clean. Honeywell has been using that Technology for decades. Don't worry sparking in the unit is OK

Only one plate inside, it's glass edges are broken or deteriorate

I haven't seen an older Flair that I know of. There will be as many slots for plates as are required. The filter is definitely washable. Use an enzyme cleaner and rinse with hot water. The fan motor should be oiled every month or two. It should cost less than $100 to get it running in top shape.

Fan motor is dead I think...is it okay to run ionizer still??

no , it is not advisable to run the machine while there is an exsisting problem , it would be best not to run it untill the motor has been replaced
