HANDWHEEL CAME OFF WHILE FILLING THE BOBBIN. CAN'T PUT IT BACK ON help!!
SOURCE: cant put back bobbin case in its place
I'm assuming you took out all the visible thread but usually I find more that you can't see until you disassemble the bobbin casings. Should have instructions in your manual...its not as scary as you think.
If you are nervous about it, take digital pictures every step of the way, so you can get it all back in.
Have some tweezers and a small flash light handy!
That extra bit of thread could be hanging up the system enough for you not to be able to get it back in right.

Did the machine get dropped, or otherwise roughly handled? Or have a rough, bumpy ride back home, etc? That could explain why it's not working correctly.

The timing has been knocked off when it jammed. The only way to
correct this is to take it to a shop and have it retimed. This is common on these machines.
I have 25 years working on Pfaffs
SOURCE: Needle timeing is out
The timing is set at the factory. If the threads are not hooking together, then perhaps try one of three things.
1. remove the thread, and run the machine at full speed for three minutes or more. This warms up the hardware, loosens gelled up oil, and get's all the parts in allignment.
2. (and 3.) Check the thread tentions. On the top thread, it will be a dial with numbers, over a spring and two plates that the thread runs through. On the bottom, it's a tiny screw on the side of the casing that the bobbin sits inside.
If the machine sews loose threads, then tighten these, a bit at at time, and if the machine jams up with a knot of thread at the needle, then loosen these. I believe that if the sewn threads are loose at the top, the bobbin tention neeeds tightening, and if the sewn threads on the bottom are loose, then the top tention dial needs tightening.
Cheers.

Did you ever find the answer on this? I've been searching for days. My Pfaff 1469's handwheel flew off when the plastic screw broke and I can't find a pic of how to reassemble it.
I'm trying to get the remains of the screw out on a 1471 so I can replace it.
