Question about Business & Productivity Software

Outlook Hello Brutalnails, Thank you for all your attempts. It still doesn't work. I keep getting error commands when trying to send all e-mails from within Outlook. I don't know where to go next. The support from Microsoft is something like $49.00 per minute or something crazy. I may never use Outlook. Thanks again. Kip

Attachments freeze computer

If you press [ALT]+[TAB] and bring the email message with the attachment to the front and send it, that should release your mail. Until you actually send your email (or save it to send later), Word will not allow you to close it.

Or, just to make life easier, save your document, and attach IT to your email rather than trying to send the document from within Word.

It sounds like you're using Outlook, which has a nasty habit of keeping hold of objects (like your Word Document) until it is finished with them, sometimes requiring that it be completely closed.

"general mail failure in Excel 2003 when trying to send attachme

Hi,

Hope this works :

Close Excel first and check out if Outlook or Outlook Express/Windows Mail is your mail program for Office.
Start>Settings>Control Panel....Internet options (Program Tab)
In Vista : Start>Default programs
Controls to send mail might be missing missing or disabled or there are errors when you try to mail.

when u get this error message "General Mail Failure " The "E-mail" command is missing or is unavailable, see
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/918792/en-us

for excel 2003 chek the registry for errors

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/834008

hope it works ......

When i open outlook 2007, i receive an error during send/receive. it tells me that outlook cannot process the RSS content from a certain link. (THE LINK MAY NOT POINT TO A VALID RSS SOURCE.) Please help...

This is kind of ugly, but should work. Make note of all the feeds you have that you want to keep.

In the Navigation Pane, open the RSS Feeds folder and delete a feed. Then press F9 to Send/Receive and see if you get the error. If not, add back in the feed if you want to keep it, and delete the next feed in the folder.

Repeat until you find which feed is bad.

Good luck to you!

I can't get Outlook to send. I think the software is not properly configured

Hello,

Please make sure that your outgoing server are not having connection problems. You can test it by going to the command prompt and type:

telnet ipaddressofthemailserverhere 25

25 is the default port port the Outgoing SMTP server. If you see a connection closed error, then you have a blocked connection problem. You should report it to your mail service provider or ask your internet service provider if they are blocking port 25.

Need to delete email w/2 large of attachment after clicking send

1. Go the File menu, then choose Work Offline in order to stop Outlook from trying to send all mails:
2. Switch to the Outbox.
3. You now have two options:
a. Move the message: you can drag-and-drop or use the Edit: Move to Folder menu item to move the e-mail to your drafts folder. This will allow you to re-open the offending e-mail and slim it down by removing the large attachments before attempting to resend it.

b. Delete the message: this will immediately remove the message from the Outbox and put it in Deleted Items.
4.

If you receive an error at this point that says the message is being transmitted, close Outlook, wait for Outlook to exit (you may need to use Task Manager and wait for the Outlook.exe process to exit), and then start Outlook again and repeat steps 2-3. In some cases, the item may not be released until Outlook has restarted.
5. Go to the File menu, deselect Work Offline to start sending and receiving mail again.
