Try run check disk at the command prompt; start menu, run, type cmd, type chkdsk, press enter. After check disk is done type chkdsk /r and press enter. press y (yes) and restart PC and let it auto check for repair of any errors found. Try this out. Hope it helps

You have to check the all hardware parts mostly the power unit.
If you had the warranty go and try to change it.

you will need much more ram mem for win7 than win xp, perhaps upgrade your ram mem, and see if that solves the freezing issue

My computer, Windows XP, freezes when I use Firefox

Soft ware problem. Try pressing the ESC button during boot up, this will allow you to go into safe mode from where you can reset your system to a previous time

you might have something loose inside. have you opened it and checked for cables that might be rubbing against a fan or even a loose card in a slot.

Mouse works for about 20 seconds during system start up freezes


Remove AVG and see if that corrects the problem.
If it does your issue is with AVG .. try another
antivirus tool.
