The dish remote should have come with a list of program codes to program your remote. The list is by brand of tv and it gives you codes and instructions on how to sync the tv and remote. If you can't find the paper work I suggest trying to google it or calling Dish for help. Best of luck girl! :-)
Would you like to program the Universal Remote that came with your Dish Solo DVR VIP 612 to control the volume of your receiver, tuner, or stereo instead of your TV's volume?
The first step in using the Universal Remote Control that came with your Dish Solo DVR VIP 612 to control the volume level of your receiver, tuner, or stereo is to program the remote to control your audio device using the AUX mode button.
Once your remote controls your audio device in AUX mode, you probably want to continue to control the volume of your stereo even if the remote is in SAT, TV or VCR mode.
To setup your Dish Solo DVR VIP 612 Universal Remote to control the volume of your stereo regardless of which mode it is in, follow these steps:
Press and hold the AUX button until all the mode buttons are lit, and then let it go.
Press the POUND (#) button.
Press the PLUS side of the VOLUME button.
Press 0.
Press the POUND (#) button. The AUX button flashes three times to tell you the programming is complete.
Confirm the VOLUME buttons are operating the tuner/amplifier's volume control by pressing SAT or TV, and then adjusting the volume. Your tuner/amplifier's volume should change rather than your TV's volume.
Your Dish Solo DVR VIP 612 Universal Remote is now setup to control the volume of your stereo regardless of which mode it is in
I have provided a link with instructions on how to program the new remote to your Sony TV. The link contains our different receivers. Select your receiver model, then a PDF document will open with the instructions for programming the remote to your TV. It begins with step 5. I hope this helps.

The Sony RM-YD029 Remote control will work with the Dish Network VIP722 DVR HD Satellite Receiver, but the Dish Network VIP722's Primary remote address must be set to 1.
The procedure below will allow Sony RM-YD029 remote control to operate Dish VIP722.
Using the Dish Network Remote Control - 1. Press menu 2 times to get to system info page 2. In the system
info page the primary remote address is in a white box (bubble) followed by a Green TV (1)symbol that
says IR and indicates you the channel your remote control one is
configured. The Sony RM-YD029 will work when this primary remote address number (in the white box) is set to 1.
If the Primary Remote Address of your VIP722 Remote control 1 is not set to channel 1, here is how to change it:
1. While displaying the system info page, press and hold the SAT button on your dish network remote until all other modes are flashing, about 3 seconds. 2. then press the '1' button on the numeric pad of your dish remote 3. then press the '#' button on the numeric pad of the dish remote 4. then press the 'record' button (red dot button - stores setting) 5. At this point you should see a number 1 in front of the primary remote address on the dish system info page
Ensure you enter the corresponding IR code into your Sony remote control per the instructions in the manual or Sony's web site. My 722 works with Sony IR code - 01775.
for instructions on how to program the AUX setting on your remote and how to set your remote to adjust the receiver volume while controlling the Dish receiver.
If you are looking to have the Dish remote operate your TV, just do a random search for your tv. First, hold down the tv button on the dish remote until all the rest of the light up. Next press the tvpower button on the dish remote. Next, press the channel up button (this is the up arrow button) until the set turns off. When it does turn off, press the # key at the bottom right of the remote. The tv button will light and flash twice. That's it. Your done. Hope this helps.
Due to the various remote types used by Dish for their different receiver types they may or may not have another receiver w/ a remote that would be compatible with your system. It also is a possibility that there is another remote that will operate your receiver and TV as well. you can check on Dishnetwork.com to find compatibility or you can provide me with the make and model of your tv and i will research it for you and let you know my results.
What you have right now is a half code situation with the remote. Their is no solution to this than the above or buying a universal remote capable of communicating with your receiver.
Hope this assists you and let me know if I can be of anymore help in the future.
