Can't get picture back on lap top after connecting to ext monitor

Used Nvidia to utilize External Monitor, Now Ican't get anything on my lap top screen, I'm SCREWED! It only has theoption of the 2207 Hp monitor when you look for displays... Don't knowwhat else to do. Originally it had the option of HP2207 + lap topdisplay, clone, or one or the other, that's how I got it that way inthe beginning! The fn F4 hot keys wouldn't work, that's why I went intothe nvidia setting (with guidance from the Hp support people)... nowthey won't help me get it back, because I'm out of warrantee. If I canget it back I'll set it up to clone so I don't run into this problemagain.

p.s. he had me download the most recent of all the drivers (I have the GeForce 7600 something Nvidia. Any suggestions would be GREAT! As well someone said to unhook the monitor, hold down the power button on the lap top and them turn it back on.. no go, no change..

the Lap top is a Hp Pavillion 9000dv Entertainment Center Edition

Hello there. You sound very frustrated. try this, go into your BIOS settings and cycle the settings for your vga adapter, or even reseting the options to basic performance. also, you could hook up the external monitor and disable it while it's hooked up. that should fix any problems with that(if you still have an extra.)

Connecting an External Monitor or Data Projector

If you power up thelaptop first then you can switch the video output to the external monitor bypressing the Fn key and one of the Function keys, depending upon your make andmodel laptop. You can also toggle between the external monitor or both LCDscreen plus the external monitor or back to LCD screen only by pressing the Fnkey plus one of the function key. Blue lines on dell lap top inspiron

Check whether blue lines are present in bios screen, if Present then Hardware issue

If Blue line not present in bios screen, Software issue = Restore system back to factory settings

Connect External Monitor, use Fn + F8 to extend display on external Monitor ,

if display is fine on Ext Monitor = Replace LCD Kit

if Blue lines are displayed, on Ext Monitor = Replace Motherboard

My color on my lap top went to purple you could still see every thing its just primarily purple. How can I fix this?

power on laptop keep tapping F8 then select last known good configuration. if fails then boot in safe mode then uninstall then reinstall video driver. if fails then connect laptop to an external monitor check if the display is purple from the ext monitor then if yes this might replace motherboard if not then LCD is the problem.

Monitor not coming on

Are you sure it's just the monitor, can you hear the Windows sound prompt when it starts? If you have an external monitor, connect it and see if the machine works properly, or if it's not starting at all. Try the external, get back to me, and we'll go from there.
