Hi ... I am having the same problem ... my camera keeps saying "device not responding" and it does not show up anywhere on my computer. I have connected it to my computer in the past the exact same way (with the USB cable) and I never had a problem before. All of a sudden, this error message is coming up on my camera. I have 'reset' the camera (taken the batteries and memory card out), put them back in and still get the same message. I have also tried resetting the camera to 'disk drive' as well as 'camera' but nothing works. The software is installed on my computer (I can access previous pictures I have downloaded to my computer in the past), but am unable to connect to my computer now. Any suggestions ??? Please help !!! Thanks. R-

The same thing happened to me,
turn your camera on, hold down menu/ok button, click over to the wrench tool which is called the setup menu, scroll down to USB Configuration, click on it, then scroll to disk drive and select it.
Now try turning your camera off and then back on, connect USB cord to computer and you should be all right.

I lost the cord for my camera and just bought a new one. Why won't my computer recognize this devise and upload my pics to my pc?

Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program, such as Picasa ( ).

try to reinstall the driver for your USB, if done and still getting the same problem, the problem would be the port it self, try to use other port of the computer

Usb devise not recognised

You probably damaged the drive from sudden disconnection of the signal line. I would suggest trying it on one other computer before considering it trashed.
