Question about Whirlpool Ultimate Care II GSQ9669L Top Load Washer

Our Whirlpool washer won't drain

Our Whirlpool Ulitmate Care II washer won't drain. There was a leak so we took the washer apart and found our daughter's sock in the water pump. After putting it all together we did a little test run with water only and it worked fine. Then we tried a small load and it seemed to do everything normal BUT draining the water. Could it have burned out our main drive motor? ANY help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Andrea

Thanks again for your response, the washer is spinning, but not draining. Any ideas? Thanks!

My wife ran a small load of clothes. When done I opened the machine and found water still in the drum. I removed the pump and ran with my drill and pumped fine. Is the pump always running when the motor is running? Even during agitation? If not, what "locks the pump in" so it pumps? The timer? I'm not absolutely sure about the model, but is an Ultimate Care II Gold with 27 cycles, " commercial quality. There is no tag on unit. Any help would be appreciated.

This machine has the pump directly atached to the pump assy, so if the motor is runnning your pump will drain water. more likely is that when you put the unit back together perhaps you didnt plug the lid switch assembly bak in. if there is no lid switch detected the unit will not drain or spin and when it gets to that mode it will simply stall out. no noise or anything. will fill, agitate but not spin and/or drain/ check the lid switch!

well , if the machine is spinning, then motor is turning, and the pump is attached directly to the motor, so you either have another sock ( or other debris in pump), the bearing onthe pump has broken and no longer pumping, or there is something stuck in the drain hose/line)

This issue calls siphoning effect. It happens when the drain hose was somehow lower or not stand vertically. It causes no air pressure column in the drain hose to keep the water out. Check the drain hose and make sure it is high enough. Try to hold the drain hose straight up and see if it is happened before having further inspection.

My whirlpool ultimate care II is leaking water.

Use the video to see how to disassemble the washer to check for the source of the leak.
The leak is probably in the drain pump.

Leaking washer drain pump

Yes, the drain pump is a common leak area.
2 clips, 2 hoses and it pulls off.
If it has leaked for a long time you will have to get aggressive to get it off.

The washer has the sound both times but not all the time. I THINK we found all the pieces but now that you mentioned it, perhaps not. Are you thinking there may be a piece lodged somewhere and making that noise?
