Your Garmin Problem

Hi,

Perhaps you were unable to view my suggestion in your post. Might you want to give it a try.

"If you are using a Window based computer to download/upload the map updates, perhaps you can try with your antivirus and/or firewall temporarily disabled."

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information. Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

Have you seen this page? It would seem that you would need to install a new/latest WebUpdater to download updates for your Garmin Nuvi 310 / 360.

Recently bought a Garmin G3 approach - only turned it on in the garden but i dont get a GPS signal and its not as if i am surrounded by high rise buildings !!.

Hello,

Initially a GPS may take 20-30 minutes to obtain satellite lock, try leaving the unit powered on in a window or something of the sort. If you are still unable to achieve a lock try giving the unit a firmware update using Garmins Webupdater Software. Here is a link to the necessary software http://www8.garmin.com/products/webupdater/howtoinstall.jsp.

Hope this helps!

I put new batteries in , pushed on button, Garmin screen comes on and that's it and then can't turn off. Need to pull the batteries to turn off. Any suggestions. This is on a Approach G5

Hello,

This sounds like a firmware issue try downloading Garmins WebUpdater Software and giving the unit a firmware update. If your are unable to connect the GPS to the PC you will have to send it in for warranty or repair. Here is a link to the Garmin Software you will require for the updates.

Hope this helps!

My home base is Ohio. I am now in Texas and my Garmin Nuvi 265W seems unable to acquire a satellite signal for my current location. How can I get a satellite signal that I can use in Texas?

One problem, which I've experienced, are tinted windows (tinted with metal oxide). They block or distort the microwave signal to/from the satellite. Garmin has an optional external antenna which can be used, or you can try relocating the GPS in your car. Try it with all windows down and the unit near an open window. If that works you've confirmed the tinted glass problem.

Garmin nuvi 260 touch screen does not respond

Hi

Try and reset the unit by using a straightened paper clip, or something similar, to push the reset button for 15 seconds. The reset button is located near the power hole for docking base. If the reset won't work then the touch screen should be replaced as it is bad. Hope this helps... Please post back if you need more information.

When turn on always says poor satellite reception,

Hi Carlos,

You are receiving that message because the GPS is unable to acquire satellites. Satellite reception can be limited due to one or more of the follow reasons: Poor view of the sky, GPS antenna not deployed, used indoors or other internal problems.

Try taking the device outside in full view of the sky - preferably with little or no tree cover, tall buildings, etc. and allow up to 2 minutes to acquire satellites.

If unable to acquire, it may require return to Garmin for repair. Contact Garmin based on your location and product below:

NAV U53 GPS - MESSAGE 'SERVICE' ON A BLUE SCREEN AND A SPANNER

This is a return to Base requirement as there is no owner solution to this problem. This is the tricky garmin group doing a "Microsoft" to get more $$ from their users.
Perhaps consider an Altina, next time they have no sneaky money grabbing tricks to make money out of you at every turn. Garmin were good once but they have joined the throw away mantality group.
You can check out an altina at Marbella australia the main service centre and distributor

Can't upload workouts from Forerunner 305

After deleting all but one month of history on the device, it still would not upload new workouts. It would hang in garmin connect, or indicate problem in training center. The solution, finally, was to delete all history EXCEPT for the new unloaded workouts from the device. They then uploaded.

COM 1 to garmin 12 problems

I had a similar problem with another garmin model. Problem cropped up after some sync software for an mp3 player1.gif was installed in my PC1.gif.

To get the software1.gif to recognise my GPS I had to go into my PC's task manager. (ctrl alt del). Click on the processes tab and look for a program called "wces.exe". Ending that process would allow the PC to recognise the GPS. Be careful, ending the wrong process can screw up your PC.

I know this solution1.gif is a longshot, please don't give a bad rating! :)

good luck
