Sidekick 08 stuck on reboot screen, keeps rebooting

My sidekick keeps resetting itself it turns on, goes to the white screen with the four jump buttons, and shuts back off aain...eventually it goes to a screen that tells me to reboot...i have tried soft and hard reset and customer care is stupid...what do i do??

    i have the same problem except mine won't even go to a reboot screen it just stays with the four jump buttons.

    ive had the worst luck with my sidekicks 1st i had the LX and the same thing would happen and then it fell in the pool then i got the '08 and it was stolen :/

    and just yesterday i got the '08 AGAIN and after just a few hours working the same thing happened to me the 4 jumo screen and then it turns off and turns on again

    i finally contacted customer care and he told me to remove the battery for a few mins. and it worked so i went down stairs for my charger and when i got back to my phone the same thing was on again im super angry right now!!!

    customer care say take out sim and battery for a min then phn cuts on wen cuts on hold @10 same time then shut off then wen do hold r til icon comes on but it wrks but only sometymes

    everything this happens i just take the battery out.
    the only problem with this is it deletes all my current text messages and
    i get some from months ago.

    This is unbelieveably annoying! It happens to my phone at random times. Customer Care has no idea what to do, they apparently will hire anyone. The only way i have found to fix it is to take the battery out. I hate doing that because then all my texts and important dates in the calander are erased! WTF!!!!! tmobile needs to fix this asap or i will be considering Verizon.

    i have the same problem with my sidekick it wont do anything but go from the white screen showing the jump icons to black to "sorry, please reboot" and then you reboot and the same thing happens... ughhh!!!, and i cant even get my cover off to take my battery out so i dont kno what to do :(

    I have the same problem....but mine wont turn on after taking the battery out....then the sim card....them pressing the stupid combos they have you press...nothing I just want to be able to get my contacts off the phone and I assumed that they automatically saved to the sim card but that would be to easy for t-mobile so no they dont i didnt know that i had to save them myself....is there any way to extract the contacts off the phone? they are sending me a new phone but I NEED my contacts!!! Ugggg I hate t-mobile I would have nbever left verison if i woulf have known that all there phones were defective...my fiance's phone even broke a while back (not a sidekick but still a tmobile brand) help please if you know how to extract the contacts!!!!

    yes I have the same problem but there seems to be no solution...I have taken both the battery and sim card out and it does the same thing....customer service told me that sidekicks get updates on a daily basic and you have to turn off your phone for at least 5 minutes a day so the updates could go through....they said that the reboot is stuck and it cannot complete so just leave your phone off for like 5 hours and the problem should be fixed...now if the same thing happens then I'm just done with tmobile..this is the second problem I've had with this sidekick!!

    Omg!!!! I have the same problem and like it happened to me twice already and I've only had the phone for a week! Its so gay and after reading about what you guys said about customer care being useless it makes me mad. Like seriously, all my contacts got erased last time it did this and I had numbers I'll never be able to get again! =( I cried last time lol this phone is not worth all this hassle fereal!

    my phone does the same thing. i was at school and looked at my phone just to see if i had a message and then all the jump buttons were on, and when it finally loaded it had like a picture of the phone and it had like stars or something around it then it tells me to reboot so i do and it does the same thing. i went to tmobile in the mall and they told me to press 1+@+0 at the same time but it kinda still does the same thing, so i take my battery out and wait a minute, oh and if i dont take the battery out right away the phone gets SOOO unbelievably hot. so then when the phone finally turns back on i have messages from like october on there im like wtf is this?
    i havent called customer care but reading this kinda sounds like they really dont care.
    i remember this happened like 2 days after i had my phone, its happened like 5 times total ugh idk.

    i got my phone on christmas and the same thing happened to me tday. i was sitting in school and i looked at it and there was like a dead sidekick face and im like OMFG what am i gonna do. i was freaking out for like a freakin hour until my friend was like take out the battery, and then it worked, all my contacts are gone tho.

    ive read almost everyones response to this and everyone has the same problem pretty much.I HAVE THE 2008 SIDEKICK Geeko the lime green one and im definetly not calling customer care unless its a real person not a machine. t mobile says to shut it off to let it update? well i dont have the internet for it to update so whats the story on that? this is rediculousE

    personally i think that t-mobile is stupid! i have had a variation of this prolem!
    they make you purchase the sidekick package to get the internet, and when it did the reeboot thing, i guess it deleted my password to log into the system so i cant even use my internet now, and customer care told me to take it to the store, and the store told me to call customer care! its one big circle! WHY DOES T MOBILE SELL SIDEKICKS IF PEOPLE THAT WORK AT THEIR STORE DONT EVEN KNOW HOW TO FIX THEM AND WORK THEM???????

    please.. soo when people like us have this problem and have tried all the stupid cominations of rebooting and taking our your battery and sim card only have the last resort of calling these people so we can MAYBE figure out how to fix our damn phone!

    i have the sidekick 08 ...THis sidekick is soo annoying....its happened to me like twice alreadyyy! and it sucks customer care just told me to get a new phone...so ii was like ugh but im trying out the solutions and imma get a new battery to see if it works ill keep ya posted on wat happens...

    So... Mine did the reboot thing and then went to the 4 icon start. Tech support told me to take the battery out and put it back in again... and what do you know?... it wont turn back on. What do I do now?? They're sending me a new phone but I can't really wait 7 days.

    i was on duh phone thne my servic quit my phone shut off so i charge it and it goes to the white scrreen wit the 4 icons...then i shuts off.then after abut a half hour the reboot screen comes on...so i reboot it and the white screenw it the four icons comes on.......and its shuts off again!!

I have the same trouble and its really annoying it happens all the time. the only way i finally learned to avoid it/ get out of it is take apart the phone, take out the battery wait a few seconds then put it back together and it turns on.... it just happened to me! its annoying because what if you need to get in touch with someone?!

For the record, the first version of Sidekick 08's didn't do the deadsidekick screen (which is really sad looking, as is the battery dying noise). I had my 08 since it came out and it never did this. When I called Customer Service to order a new battery (cause, hello, that thing was never made to last two years - probably just the 30 days of the warranty) they sent me a new phone -sans battery- instead, because TMobile Reps aren't too bright. And the new phone, all sleek and shiny, lasted less than two weeks. There's no "fix" to this problem, this new version of the 08 just kind of sucks. Call T-Mobile, be smart and have insurance, and demand a new phone. If you have insurance they HAVE to send you a new phone if yours is faulty. And make sure they send you a new battery with the new phone. If they say no, ask to be transferred. One of the times I called I was transferred eight times, but do what you gotta do. My wonderful CS Rep (the only one TMo has) even gave me expedited shipping for free. Threaten to switch to AT&T and they'll lower your monthly rate too =).

I tried the battery and evryyting bro...it didnt help me but this 1 guy at the store said if u can get a new mother board for a sidekick08 we can switch it fer you and ur phone will be gud...but the thing that sucks is...idk ere to get the mother boared unless i steal some1s sidekick...and i dnt relly wanna do tht cuz last time...i got arrested so fucked it if any1 can give me an answere to were i can get it...thtd be great my creeename for aim is odamnitzjason so I.M me if u got anything...thx guys =]

Try buying a new battery. I did and it worked for me. The battery may be messed up so if you buy a new one just make sure you do NOT over charge it.
ALso for all of you who keep saying t-mobile sucks, and all this, it doesn't!
Its your fault you phone is jacked up :)

HOW DO I DELETE EVERYTHING ON MY SIDEKICK 08


Dear Friend,
  1. Remove the battery and the SIM card from your SideKick .
  2. Flip the sidekick open; press and hold the letter 'r' on the keypad.
  3. While holding the letter 'r' on your SideKick , place the battery back in the device. DO NOT INSERT THE SIM CARD YET INTO YOUR SIDEKICK.
  4. The sidekick will restart itself twice. Please make sure not to let the letter 'r' go until it has fully rebooted.
  5. Once your cell phone has fully been rebooted, remove the battery, re-insert the SIM card and battery and power up the SideKick.
  6. Once the device has fully rebooted, all prior information should be erased from the device and it should be restored back to the default factoy settings.

I bought a sidekick 08 off ebay and i went to t mobile and i got my prepaid minutes and i just got home and now i turn on the phone for like the 50th time so far and now it says sign in but it has the...

T-Mobile sidekick II keeps resetting


I had this problem with a new phone, and T-mobile gave me the following instructions.

Try this first:
1) Turn on phone with SIM chip in it.
2)hold down the "@" + "1" + "0" down simultaneously until phone turns off, then back on again. This should fix the problem. otherwise try this,

1) remove battery and SIM.

2) press and hold down the "w" key, and while holding it down insert the battery only.

3)A little face will appear on the screen, then a reboot button. Press the reboot button. Once the phone reboots, insert the SIM. One of those two should fix the problem.

ollow the steps below to clear the datastores off and simulate a hard reset:
- Reboot the device by pressing @+1+0
- IMMEDIATELY press and hold the 'R' key on the keyboard. Continue to hold the 'R' key down
- The device will reboot, and when the initial boot screen (the 4 face buttons animation shows) displays, the screen will clear and the device will reboot again.
- Let go of the 'R' key at this point, and the device will reboot with no datastores, and force a resync.

You can try this. It works on Sidekick 3's

1. at the same time hold the menu button (top left) and the jump button (bottom left)
2. This will bring you to the emergency screen (it gives you the option to make an emergency call)
3. Open to the keypad and hold in the menu+shift+q buttons at the same time.
4. The phone will reset and clear/unlock the security code

If that doesn't work you can trya Master Reset

1. Remove the battery and the SIM card from the device.
2. Flip the sidekick open; press and hold the letter 'r' on the keypad.
3. While holding the letter 'r', place the battery back in the device. DO NOT INSERT THE SIM CARD YET.

Sidekick III Stuck


1) Remove the battery from your device
2) Flip open the screen
3) with the battery removed, press and hold the W key on the keyboard. Press and hold it and don't let go until I say so. :)
4) Put the battery in (you're still holding "W" right? Good). This is a little tricky to do but you can do it.
5) Keep holding W! :)
6) The device will boot to a screen that has a picture of a SK with Xs for eyes and stars spinning around it's head, like it's been clonked on the head. When you see this, you can let go of the "W" key.
7) After a few more seconds you'll see a screen that says "Sorry! Please restart your device by selecting the Reboot button. If this screen appears again, contact Customer Care."
8) Click the Reboot button on the screen, and hope for the best.
