Hi,

Initially, it could either be:

  • open heating element (most likely);
  • open temperature limiter (least likely);
  • faulty/loose connection/wiring (a possibility).
Please confirm that it is a Whirlpool RCC3024 Electric Cooktop.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information. Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

    Hi again,

    Appreciate the quick postback.

    For some reason I could not locate related literature for a RCC3024LD01, although there are for LB01, LQ01 and a LT01. Most of the components in these models could be checked with the use of a continuity tester (multitester VOM/DVM). The idea is to check for continuity of each component. If we are to assume that the heating element as a likely suspect, it is a matter of checking if the coil is continuous, that is no break anywhere in between. The test prods of the continuity tester would be applied to the two (2) terminals of the heating element and the tester should deflect/display how much is the resistance. Normal reading shouold be pretty low while no deflection/reading indicates an open coil and therefore would require replacement.

    These additional documents may be of help to you:

    1. exploded parts diagram;

    2. parts list.
    Cheers.

My whirlpool gold cooktop has the control lock button lit up- i can't turn on any buners?

Hello there and welcome to fixya
This is a fairly common issue with these
These cooktops have a internal memory built into them and if they get locked they need to be reset
SO what you will need to do is to unplug the power to the cooktop and leave it sit for 1 hr and do not touch ok then after the hour is up tunr on the power to the cooktop you may hear a audiable beep sound or a click sound this is normal now press the cancel button and you should be all right from here but if not please post me back a comment and tell me what is going on and i will give you further troubleshooting steps ok ?
Best regards Mike

I have a JEC9536ADB electric Jenn-Air Cooktop. We replaced the class top and now the knobs are all spliting and won't work. 2 of the main burners will only heat in the "high" position? What do I need to replace?

My Kenmore cooktop will not heat properly, all 4 burners. They turn on and heat a little bit, but the burner on lights do not light up and the burners do not heat to full temperature. I closed my oven...

hi my name is mark, a service tech needs to check the voltage to the cook top. you will probably find improper voltage. check data plate for proper voltage should be 208v or 230v depending onwhere you live.

Whirlpool Flat cooktop burner not heating up

Try cleaning the knobs. I did the same thing you did (turning the circuit breaker off but that did not solve the problem.

My wife just tried turning the knobs and that seemed to work. It appears that one of the knobs may have been so sticky that the though it's in the OFF position it thinks it's still ON.

Knob not working and some burners not heating

The switch under that knob is bad.  It's called an infinite switch.  As far as the elements go, first thing to check is for proper voltage (220) to the cooktop.  Let me know what you find.
