Blue streak across bottom left hand corner of screen.

On my 50V500A LCD Rear projection Hitachi, there is a blue streak across the bottom left hand side of the screen. Half of the TV screen had a blue tint until I replaced the lamp. The blue tint is gone except for the left hand corner. What is the cause of this problem and what can I do to fix it.

It's most likely the light engine. Many times these will have an extended warranty on them so check first if your warranty is still good or see what Hitachi will do for you. If they won't do anything for you except have you send it in then look for a new part online and replace yourself if you feel comfortable. I can find the part if you want to order one, just let me know

That is probably a fault in the ribbon cable connector.

The tv must be taken apart and the canble and connector inspected.

Sounds like a light engine issue. Replace it but it might be costly.

Blue spot and vertical smudge in center of screen. Problem comes after tv is running. Tv is Hitachi 50V500A Projection. Thank You

The problem is your light engine is failing. The part number for this is UX22201DR and is available for purchase with the following link. It runs $334 dollars and really is a part that needs to be replaced by a technician due to the complexity in tear down to remove it. Please take a few moments to rate my answer. Thanks...

Cant locate the lamp in my hitachi 50v500a

your lamp is in the lower left hand corner, You must first remove the plastic front cover. You will see a door with screws on the lower left, remove the screws and the lamp will come out easily. When replacing it wear latex gloves and avoid touching the lamp as this will shorten the life of the lamp.

Blue Streak

I had the same problem w/ the same TV about 6 months ago. You need a new optical engine. Hopefully you are still under warranty. Once that was replaced, the tv looks great.

Blue ghost image on the top left hand corner of my Hitachi 50V500A.

You have a defective light engine and you do not have to be under warranty for Hitachi to replace this part. We just went through this and here's what you need to do. Call Hitachi's customer relations department at 800-654-7013 and tell them that you have a defective light engine. They will act like they've never heard of this problem but they have. They will give you the names of some certified dealers in your area to call. Once a tech comes out and confirms that it's the light engine, call Hitachi back and they will send a brand new light engine to the dealer and Hitachi will cover the cost of the part (cost $1500).

Here is the deal, if you're under warranty, Hitachi will cover the part and the install. If you're not under warranty, all you pay is the install. Our install cost $400. Others on this site have paid $200. Do not let anyone tell you that you have to pay for the light engine part...you do not. Hitachi has not recalled this part but they are replacing it for free. Also, deal only with Hitachi customer realations number that I listed. Good Luck!
