    The remote is working, correct?

Can you get into the menu with the remote?

If so, can you get to the CC part of the menu?

If so, will it not let you change the CC or where are you having a problem getting to it?

oh, ok, I am looking for the manual, and the directions to get to the CC on this specific tv

  • Benjamin Patri
    Benjamin Patri Nov 11, 2008

what are the choices in your menu?

  • Benjamin Patri
    Benjamin Patri Nov 11, 2008

also, did the CC just randomly come up or was it always on?

  • Benjamin Patri
    Benjamin Patri Nov 11, 2008

although I haven't worked on this specific tv, I am assuming that the old remote had a CC button. The active button on the new remote would have any special features such as CC so press it and see what it does and please let me know as you are not the only one with this problem and I would like to post a solution for others that have this problem.

not a cheap remote for sure and like I thought, the CC is right on the remote. I am going to see if I can find a cheaper one and will post back whether I could or not but I figure this is a good place to start you off at.

I have a Sanyo TV DP32648 and the closed caption won't turn off. i don't have the original remote and even now have a programable logtech remote. how do i turn off the closed caption

You will need to have CAPTION button on the universal remote control to turn on/off the caption, if it does not have that function then you will need the original remote.
SANYO remote model GXBJ is needed for this TV.
You can get used one for $20 on EBAY or a lot more for new one at:

Don't know how to activate closed caption, and cannot find instructions

What is the TV source? For some sources (set top box), you may need to turn on the captions using the menus of the box.

Assuming you are using a source that gives captions that the TV can interpret, if you have the Proscan 26LA30Q remote, press the CC button to toggle through the caption options. Another route is to press Menu (either on the remote or the buttons on the side of the TV) then select the Feature submenu with the left/right arrows. Press Enter (menu when you use the buttons on the TV) then navigate to the Digital Closed Captions option. Here you can set the captions to on and adjust the size, style and color of the captions when they appear on-screen.

If you are using a universal remote, try the CC button. If it doesn't work, try another code for the Proscan TV on the remote. There are some codes that may not control all of the functions of the TV with the remote.

Crutchfield has the manual for the TV on the product site: http://www.crutchfield.com/S-Kaec3gBqVtM/p_68326LA30Q/Proscan-26LA30Q.html . The direct link is http://a248.e.akamai.net/pix.crutchfield.com/Manuals/683/68326LA30Q.PDF .

I hope this helps

I can not turn off the closed captioning on my philips tv , i do not have the original remote to the tv but my cable remote works as a universal remote, please help me the subtitles are driving me crazy !...

I have direct tv, and had the same problem. After an hour on the phone with the worthless tech, I gave up. Finally I figured it out. First of all do you have closed caption problems or is it "subtitles". mine turned out to be direct tv subtitles, not closed caption. I hit the yellow button on the direct tv remote, and presto. Subtitles was set to the on position. changed it to off, and what do you know. fixed.

I can't turn the closed captioning OFF on my insgnia flat screen tv model NS-L CD37. i have a universal rca remote & the closed captioning won't go away - HELP !

The problem is that the universal remote is not sending the correct IR signal to your units IR receiver, regaurdless whether or not you turned the captions on with the universal, it is unable to send the signal to turn them off, if you have a menu button on your unit you could try accessing the closed caption option that way, alternatively you can do a system reset, if you can access that menu option, you may need to do a tv retune to get your stations, but the closed captioning should be off. I hope this helps. Good luck.

Cannot turn CC ON/OFF via remotes

Try this combination.

1) Start with the cable box turned on and TV on tuned to the cable box.

2) Press the POWER button for the cable box and then quickly press the MENU button.

3) This should bring up the user setting menu. Use the arrow keys on remote to go to Closed Caption and press right arrow button this should bring up the closed caption menu.

4) Press the OK button and this should either turn CC on or off.

5) Once Closed Caption is turned off press LEFT ARROW button to return to User Settings Menu.

6) Press the POWER button to turn the Cable box back on and the Closed Caption should be gone....

Good Luck.....

Unplug the TV, let it sit for a few minutes, then plug t i again. That should reset it. If not, you'll probably have to order the remote from the company to turn it iff.
