this is a samsung plasma PN51D6500DF 51'' the tv was hit with an object that put a small crack in the right bottom corner of the screen and now the TV want power on. when using the remote to power on TV you just see a flashing red light in the power source window on the front of the TV. on the back of TV towards the center of the TV there is a blinking green light with the # code 2061 under the flashing green light does this code indicate the problem or is a number they use for installing parts. is there any method i can use to get the TV to power back on or do i need to take it in for repair which can be very costly. what does that blinking green light indicate or mean? help please thanks.

the circuit is fine because the green light glows. the problem is only in the bottom right corner, may be the ball hit ******* the panels.you can take it for repair and i dont think it wont be much costly.

Had the same issue, I replaced two 1200uf caps on the power supply board and now it works fine again. Remember to replace the caps with caps rated for at least 35wvdc.

Try unplugging the unit and while unit is unplugged hold the volume up button and channel down buttons down and while depressing both buttons plug the unit in. Let go of the buttons and the unit should come on in the service mode. There will be a small k on the screen. With the sharp remote press the channel up button once. This should bring up a menu that will show a lamp error line. If the lamp error is = to 5 the unit is in lamp error shut down. User channel down to highlight that line and curser right arrow to highlight the lamp error #. Hit the enter button to clear the lamp errors. Now unplug the unit and let it sit for a minute and plug back in. I hope this corrects the problem. If the unit does not come on by doing this or if it does and you do not find lamp errors the power supply pcb may have been damaged by the surge.

SOURCE: Tv cuts off and green light flashes

If your set was manufactured around July 2005, you may need a firmware upgrade to solve this issue. On the Sony website you can enter your model # and serial # to see if you TV is affected. If so, it is easy to have done and may be free from Sony. It sounds like the issue they described in the writeup on the required formware update. I had mine done within few months of when i bought it (purchased in Dec 2005) and it has been working flawlessly since.

Good luck!

get the usb (flash drive) and go to sharpusa.com customer support / product downloads / software download find your model# then select firmware (last 30 days) download files, save it and transfer files to usb flash drive. Unplugg the tv and put the usb on the back the tv, plugged back in and turn it on. Should work, for sure.

Son hit tv with ball no sound but....picture is fine

Perhaps you check all cables and connections. And look if all switches are in the correct position. He could heave accidentally have hit the mute button, or a button to switch to other speakers.

I almost can't believe something is defect inside the TV.

My son hit the tv and now it wont urn on

These blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit stage inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power led, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. Count it carefully. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here. It has details about blinking codes, and fault locating, to many popular brand TVs and other devices. Viewing it in "Mosaic" will make surf easy.

My son threw a golf ball at our Sanyo LCD - 42" -

I assume you meant the screen is now broken.
Some things to consider:

1. Replace the son with one who does not throw golf balls in the house. Ha ha! [jk]
2. Check to see if the warranty (usually online if you don't have the original paperwork) covers screen breakage, or ask the store where you bought the tv if there is anything they can do.
3. If the warranty is a no-go, contact the tv manufacturer and see why they may do... what the cost would be to repair etc. Some screens are covered in case they crack, but it is probably obvious it wasn't a manufacturer's defect if a golf ball hit it.
4. If those steps don't work out, check videos or info online to see if this is a job you or a techie could do - (in last case scenario).
5. If none of these check out, sadly, you might be left with a very large, expensive doorstop.
:-(
Good luck.

My son was playing the wii and his remote hit the TV. Now the tv will not power on and the power light and opc lights are flashing? Anything I can do?

You probably damaged the panel. If it's under warranty contact Sharp and request service. sharp does not replace panel under warranty . they usually replace the tv. It's worth a try.

Your pannel has damage by the hit, the only way is to replace the pannel. It is costly if you are in OOW. If it is still in warranty, call service right away and claim for an replacement.
