Question about Operating Systems
A couple years ago,6 or 7, I purchased a Sony Vaio PC from Best Buy. Recently I had to restore my C drive, back to the way it was originally. This is a feature of the PC I have. However Windows software was not a part of the PC at that time, it was added at the store when it was purchased. I received no discs or product key when I got the PC. So how do I get Windows back since I have already paid for it?
You will have to go to Best Buy or from Sony, and get it from them. It is illegal to give out product keys. I certainly understand your problem, but any key that somebody may give you here, which is against the terms of service for FixYa!, would be a bootleg copy and you could get into trouble just by using it.
Please do not give me a bad rating for telling you the truth, many experts here will not even answer these type of questions for fear of a bad rating. But the truth is the truth, Best Buy or Sony owes you a product key for your copy of Windows XP and for Microsoft Office. They should have put that in with the disc's you received when you purchased the computer. If you purchased the computer with those programs on it, then you should have gotten a key. Here is what microsoft has to say about your problem:
Obtain support from your computer manufacturer Support for products installed on computers at time of purchase is provided by the computer manufacturer. Please contact your computer manufacturer for more information about services and pricing.
I hope this helps,
