If you have DSL for your broadband connection, you need a filter on every phone jack. These filters are provided by your DSL provider

My internet connect keep disconnecting

If you are using broadband connection through telephone line, then check for the connection of your router made to ADSL of the splitter. Telephone shall not be connected before the ADSL. If it is correct change the splitter. Wrong connections cause disconnections when there is incoming telephone call or if a outgoing call is made.

Most likely, it's not due to the computer, it's due to bandwidth. Either you're direct connection to the internet, or the bandwidth you pay for from your internet service provider...
1.) So, if you're connected wirelessly, try connecting directly with a CAT5(or 5E, or 6) ethernet cable, that will speed your connection up A LOT.
2.) If you ARE connected by cable, check your download/upload limits set by your internet service provider. If you have only dial-up, it probably won't be fast enough. You'd need at least a DSL or ADSL connection, cable broadband is best.
Hope that helps!

Hi Brenda,

Your All In One wants a phone line hooked directly to it. It won't fax without a "POTS" line directly hooked to it. POTS stands for "Plain Old Telephone Service" which is the line with good old dial tone on it.

must be your inside wirings. if you have a microfilter make sure you properly connect it. your modem suppose to be connected to your microfilter and your telephone line suppose to be connect on a different wall jack .
if your using a spliter to connect you phone and internet connection make sure splitter is connect properly to wall jack then the first line is for yor microfilter to your modem then the other line is for you phone line only.

Have new lexmark 4800....wireless printer etc How do I receive fax w/o a phone line attached to equipment??

you cannot, you have to still have a landline connected to the fax, as the broadband is a different thing altogether, just get a double splitter adaptor from your wall socket and then connect the landline in one and your broadband filter in another, or just unplug the broadband and plug in normal phone line when you need to fax

Cannot send or recieve faxes

You cannot send a fax on a broadband connection, they should have given you a splitter, if not get one, the splitter is a small box like thing, it has two telephone sockets on one side and one socket on the other, the telephone line from the wall is connected on one side, on the other side you have to connect your adsl modem in one and your telephone in another socket, Usually the sockets have descriptions on them specifing which decive should be connected to the socket.

Now you should have a dial up modem(56Kbps internal or external modem) connect this modem to the socket which specifies, Telephone. Configure the modem. configure yor fax settings to use this modem. Now you can send your faxes.

If your ISP does not support dial-up then you cannot use it to send faxes.

Post back with your results.
