This router has a 3 year warranty from Linksys so if its still under warranty you can still have it replace from Linksys, you just need to contact Linksys tech support and they will have the router replace, this is their number 800-3267114.......

A Blinking Power light on a wrt-54g usually indicates that the firmware is corrupt. You can try to wipe the firmware by following the steps below:

unplug the router
using a paper clip or pin, press the reset button
plug the router back in while the reset button is still pressed down and hold it for 30 seconds.
once you let go of the reset button the router should go through a reset. if it still blinks try the process again.

if the issue still occurs then it may be bricked.

sounds like your router is bricked.
you can try unbrick it by downloading the latest firmware from
if your running win xp you can tftp the firmware to your router.
first you need to set your computer to a static ip address subnet mask
then go to start run.
type cmd and hit enter
a black window should appear
you should be able to ping the router. type
if it returns successful then do the following. if it doesn't change your network settings and make sure u got a static ip.
unzip the firmware you downloaded to drive c
tftp -i put C:\nameoflinksysfirmware.bin
hit enter
it should say successfully uploaded if it works. go ahead and power off the router and power it back on.
if that doesn't work try uploading it again.

As far as I know... Linksys' B router firmwares has already been decommissioned long time ago , if problems really persist after the reset , better off getting a new router...

My wlan light keep going on and off on my wrt54g

Also check if the power light on your router is blinking. If it is blinking, that's an indication of hardware failure. To revive it, do a hard reset. Press and hold the power button of the router for 30 seconds then unplug the power. Wait for 30 seconds again before you plug it back in.

Wrt54g - FTP flashed it after a failed upload attempt

You may try refalshing the firmware of the router again. Please do a hard reset on your router. To do that, press and hold the reset button of the router for about a 20 seconds. Keep holding the reset button and then unplug power from the router without releasing the reset button. Wait for about 15 seconds. After 15 seconds, power on the router and wait for about 15 seconds more then release the reset. Turn off the router and wait for a minute before turning it on. Observe if the power light is still blinking or not.

Then, check the IP address that the computer is obtaining. To do that, click on START>RUN then type CMD and then click OK. Once you're in the command prompt, type ipconfig/all then press ENTER. Look for the IP address it will give you.

If the computer does not obtain a valid IP address from the router, then you may need to assign a static IP address to the computer. To assign a static IP address to your computer: CONTROL PANEL>NETWORK CONNECTIONS. Right click on LOCAL AREA CONNECTIONS then click on PROPERTIES. Then look for Internet Protocol TCP/IP. Select it then click properties and then set it to Use the Following IP address. IP address will be set to Subnet Mask will be set to You may leave the default gateway and DNS servers blank. Click ok all the way out.

Open the command prompt again and then ping your router. Do the command, ping then press ENTER. Check if you will be able to receive replies or not.

If you received 4 replies from the ping then you may upgrade the firmware of the router. If not then the router is busted.

I believe, Linksys offers replacement for their in-warranty devices. You may verify from their customer service at 800 546 5797. They are using a certain tool which will detect the warranty of your router through its Serial number.

Hope this helps!

Unbricking my WRT54GC router

I know this is going to sound stupid, but what I want you to do is to press and hold the reset button until the unit reboots. The try to communicate with it. What you may have done if overwritten your primary software load. so what yo may have to do is try to get to the default software or the "bios" of this unit. I am almost certain that you corrupted that too but it is worth a try. You may end up buying a new unit if all of this fails. Here are some links that might help:
