Re: Upgrade from 600 MHz to 1 GhZ

It seems that Noggin is confusing a Gateway LAPTOP computer with an old Pentium III Slot 1 CPU... The old Gateway P-III motherboard will NOT support the faster CPU; the 1 GHz P-III CPU requires a LOWER voltage than the motherboard can provide...

Re: Upgrade from 600 MHz to 1 GhZ

According to this review, you can upgrade as far as a 2 GHz P4-M at least;,1895,669029,00.asp Other than that, i have been unable to find the details of your motherboard - if you can post the make and model (should be printed on it somewhere) then I would hope to find a more complete list of compatible and incompatible processors. Gateway themselves no longer offer online info or support for this model, but the motherboard details should enable me to find out what you need to know. Waiting for your post :)

Is there a cpu upgrade for an hp pavilion 6835 with a motherboard 115561 cognac 20000731

The fastest Pentium 3 that will work in your board is a Intel Pentium III 1GHz chip. Here is a link to the specs:

You could also get a Intel Celeron 1.1 GHz but it only has half the level 2 cache size so it's actually a bit slower than the Pentium III 1GHz chip.
Here's a link to celeron specs:

I have a acer 210t laptop with a 700 processor. can I upgrade to a faster processor and if so which one and how fast. Thank you.

Some laptops have "mobile" CPUs (physically smaller, and consuming less power) than the typical "desktop" CPUs.

So, if you know "how" to disassemble your computer, you may be able to remove the heat-sink & fans on top of the CPU, remove the CPU, and install a faster one.

However, if your current CPU is of the "Pentium III" series (which ranged from 500 Mhz to about 1400 Mhz), you may not be able to find a CPU that will be significantly faster than your current 1.26 Ghz CPU.

Instead, I would check the disk-drive -- if it is 4200 RPM or 5400 RPM, I would replace it with a 7200 RPM disk-drive, for better I/O speeds, and thus help your computer go "faster".

Also, I would add more RAM, again to make your computer go "faster".

What are pentium III Equivalents

Athlon 1.3GHz cpu
Celeron 300A processor.

These are a few and courtesy of Tech Enclave here is a link about a place in China that produced a CPU called Godson II which is the equvalent of a Pentium III as well.

Hope this helps.

Processor not working at rated speed

This is a designed feature in the pentium M processors; it will work at a reduced speed to save power consumption until the need arises. To turn off this feature, go into your computer's BIOS and turn off the power save feature of the cpu.

Thanks and please take a moment to rate this solution with a fixya rating. Thanks!

I want upgrade

hello, i would install the cpu you wish to use, then see how it runs. and then do a bios update. this may work,if not the motherboard may not be compatible with the cpu upgrade, (propriatory equipment sometimes does not allow such upgrades) like hit or miss! i hope this info helps, and you get the dell to accept the faster cpu. good luck! glen

you could only upgrade the processor and RAM in this condition i.e.

you can only change your an upgraded p-III processor like 1.0 GHz, 1.1 GHz or 1.3GHz and
upgrade the RAM by changing to 256 in each slot.

that is all what u can do with ur pc
