Hello; I am John at J D Electronics in Poland, Maine. I have now
repaired 81 of this same model in my shop or PCB mail in's. The set may be dead always or
work intermittently. There are 2 versions of this piece of junk, but I
have only seen this one. They all have 2 to 7 capacitors that fail on the
power
supply board that are just above that red chopper transformer. The are
labeled C233 and C234 and others. These first 2 are 3300 ufd at 10 volts
and 105 C temp
rating. You can buy these for about $1 each from Digi-Key Electronics
plus $12 shipping. There are some cautions worth
mentioning. Make sure the set has been unplugged for a day or more
before starting the disassembling. It is VERY important to keep the set
face down on a soft surface when doing ANY work on the set. This crappy
designed set has a glass faceplate that will fall down if you don't
have it face down when all the back screws are removed and it is very
hard to put it back into position if it falls. The bottom plastic
speaker strip has a million screws to remove both from the bottom edge.
Then take out all the screws for the metal back and unplug
the speakers. The connector wires to the speakers will not just pull
off without you pressing on a side release pin for each of the 4 wire-
Stupid design again!. If you are not able to solder or test these caps ,
you
can send the board to me with $44.00 to replace and/or test up to 7
caps this includes USPS Parcel Post return shipping. I accept only cash
or USA postal

Good day!!!!
That problem is usually cause of faulty capacitors on the power supply board..
Just follow this instruction to fix your TV..
1. Open the back cover of your TV.
2. Look at the power supply board..Its normally connected to the power cord..
3. After that,,try to look at the actual image of capacitors if it is bulged on the top so that you can easily determine the bad capacitors..
4. After that,,try to replaced the bad capacitors using soldering iron and soldering lead..replaced the capacitors only with the same type ratings and value..
5. Some of the capacitors not bulged so its better if have a capacitance meter

There are at least two power supplies in any set with remote capabilities; one is on any time the set is plugged into AC and is supplying that indicator and the receiving circuit of the remote, otherwise it wouldn't turn on under normal conditions. The second power supply produces the needed service voltages used when the set is in use. This second supply is a common failure in many sets and it is generally traceable to poor design and the use of low-quality components of a certain type. Vizio may have a repair or exchange program through their service center. I would guess the cost will be between $50-$150 and you might remove the back panel of the set and look for a smaller board with larger-than-average parts on it and is related to the AC cord coming in. It should be fairly easy to remove and replace as these are often outsourced and just plugged into the rest of the set with dissimilar plugs making it simple to install and reinstall.

Hi.
The power supply has probably failed.
First disconnect the power cord and check if the power plug is fused. If the plug is fused, then replace the fuse built-in the power plug.
If the TV still does not go, then it is likely the power supply.
You can also try disconnecting power cord and waiting fifteen or twenty minutes, but I do not think that will work. Overheating is not very common with LCD TV sets.

Hi,
That problem is 2 causes, its either power supply or system board.
This are some D.I.Y procedure for troubleshooting.
