Question about Kenmore Energy Star 44092 Front Load Washer

1 Answer

Front load washer won't start

Yesterday I moved my Kenmore 44092 washer out from the wall to retrieve something that fell behind it. I had to tip the machine slightly to get it to move and after I got it back in place it wouldn't work. When I sewlect a cycle the time shows up in the window and shortly thereafter a LOC message. The display continues to alternate between the time and the LOC message. When I push start, or any other button, an Err message shows and there are three beeps. ANy suggestions before I have to pay big bucks for home service? Thanks. (Oh for the simple days of mechanical timers.)

Thanks for your input. I found the tech guide inside the base access panel and read through it. It confirmed your procedure which I was going to try but before I did I looked through the washer operating instructions one more time. There in a short paragraph was a mention of how to lock out the washer to stop unauthorized use. It mentioned that the "Control Lock indicator" will light up if the Options and Select button are pressed at the same time. My machine doesn't have a Control Lock indicator light but I had a growing suspiscion that the LOC message on the display meant the same. So I pushed the Options and Select buttons together and voila my machine started working. So, I am all set. Thanks.

Yes, I could not start the washer kenmore 44092. After finishing the tests by turning the dial 1 to 9, I found the last error code was displayed "E21". I cleared the error by pressing and holding the options and cancel buttons for 3 seconts, then unpluged the washer for 5 seconds. After I restated it, it didn't start. What should I do? I need your help. Thanks.

Telescope, Im assuming your model starts with 417.44092, Kenmore made by Frigidaire. You have the best model with the digital display. Try unplugging the machine for 5 minutes to see if you can reset the board. If that doesn't work put it into a test mode by doing the following: Turn the dial to drain spin, press cancel to turn off the led's. Within 5 seconds press and hold the options and pause/cancel together for 5 seconds. All the led's should light. Now by turning the dial 1 click at a time clockwise you are going to test the following. 1rst click- hot water solenoid 2. bleach solenoid 3. Bleach and wash water solenoid 4. door lock solenoid activates 5. door lock solenoid de-activates. 6. the washer will fill and tumbe. 7. washer will fill and spin 8. drain pump and door lock will activate and washer will go in high spin. 9 clicks from the start, the last error code will be displayed. To clear the error, press and hold the options and cancel buttons for 3 seconds. To exit the test, just unplug the washer for 5 seconds. Sometimes these electronic boards just get a glitch and have to be reset. Make sure that the dispensor door is shut all the way. Try these things back.

I have a Kenmore Elite washer, model 44092. The machine won't spin and the error code is E20. What is wrong with it?

The machine, based on the error code, is made by Frigidaire for Kenmore. Error code E20 pertains to a slow or no drain problem which can be due to a clogged/kinked drain hose, blocked drain filter/coin trap, or a broken drain pump. The link below provides the detailed troubleshooting procedure of this error code.

Kinmore 44092 Washer - can't get it to start any cycle

Try some WD40 on the machine door mechanism, not on the door; & open/close the door while the machine switch is off.

Retry the machine with clothes.

Bad shacking during the spin cycle

Remove top of machine and check the centralising springs are still attatched. If springs ok tilt machine against the wall after unplugging from the wall socket and check the shock absorbers. One of them could have jumped out of the guides. If shockies are ok, check the spider for cracks/breaks. The spider is the cast part that holds the outside drum in place. To check this you will have to remove the back plate.
