My 2185 powers on and off but no picture

My monitor powers on and off, and when I turn on the computer the yellow light turns to blue, but no picture. I can see the screen light up to a dark blue, but no picture, no menu, no anything....Anyone have any Ideas about what might be going on?

thanks for the response, but it's the damest thing, I read one post that said he fixed his monitor by unplugging it and pluging it back in, and it worked. I feel like an idiot...

This works for a few weeks, but then the problem reoccurs. Did the power off/on thing and again fix the issue. Now nothing works.

To solve this problem you have to replace the 8 capacitors in the power supply. It is better if you replace all at the same time even if there is only one bad, this way you make sure your monitor will work longer. normally this capacitor are rated for 1000 hours, also check the other ones, the 10mf is the one that helps start the on and off. if you replace all of them it will probably cost you about 10 dollars not bad for a good monitor.
if you have any questions fill free to ask me and I will help you.
good luck.

My tv screen when on turns yellow then after a while it will switch back to normal colors what can be wrong with it....

Televisions covered: all Projection with yellow picture, but not Projection TVs with a yellowish tint surrounding objects in a nearly normal picture.

Yellow = red + green
normal picture = red + blue + green (RGB). See illustration.

Fig. 1 Additive color mixing in an RGB monitor, or RGB Projection TV.

The circuitry powering your blue output, or the blue light engine itself is starting to fail.

Operating Theory:

The lamp module shines a bright light into the optical unit; there are a series of lens and baffles, and at the top of the light engine, a lens puts the picture into a mirror which is reflected onto the screen; All video and color is processed thru the light engine. Blue most commonly fails first, leaving a yellow picture.

Blue light goes out yellow light stays on after computer is turn off

User manual: http://www.retrevo.com/support/Acer-X223W-Monitors-manual/id/23224ci553/t/2/

That is normal condition, yellow = no video signal from PC since PC is off or PC in standby mode.

Monitor blue light comes on shows emachines logo and color bars then monitor turns off and light turns yellow

your monitor is beleiving it is not receiving any signal from your pc. 1 make sure your cables are secure. 2 make sure your pc is on. 3 borrow a monitor from a freind to see if your pc is sending the signal out, if the borrowewed monitor is showing a picture, hook yours back up. 4 if still not picture your mpcb or video pcb in the monitor is bad.

Dell computer won't come on...only get yellow light, no blue

If the Tower has a blue light, then it appears to be working, I'd check the cable connection to the video port on the tower and the INPUT Select Button of the Monitor (I've seen people change the input select to DVI when connected analog for example)

Worked fine this am now black screen blue power button

This is usually the inverter/power board failing. If it's under warranty, you should return for repair/replacement, if not, you can search for online the inverter/power supply board - it can be as expensive as finding a good clean used monitor, so many people choose to not go the repair route.

Good luck!

My monitor turns yellow

Computer monitors get separate red, green and blue video signals from the computer, and if you lose the blue the result is a yellow picture. This can be caused by video card failure in the computer (very unlikely), a bad cable (fairly common), or trouble in the monitor (which is most likely what you have).

The usual problem with monitors is bad solder connections to the red, green and blue output devices. These are usually three separate transistors, but sometimes an integrated circuit that puts all three in one package is used. These outputs get pretty hot, and the heat can cause the connections on the circuit board to crack. Resoldering them usually fixes the trouble. (Sometimes the part actually fails, but bad connections are more common.)

The parts are normally in one of two places. Most commonly they are on the small circuit board you'll find right at the neck of the picture tube. Some monitors have them on the main circuit board. They may be mounted to metal heat sinks to help keep them cool. If you can identify them and resolder the connections, you'll probably get your normal picture back.
