Unable to send e-mails using windows mail

The connection to the server has failed. Account '<account name>', Server: '<SMTP server name>', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure (SSL): No, Socket Error: 10051, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E

To resolve this behavior, change the SMTP server for your e-mail account to use the MSN SMTP server. To do this:
1.In Outlook Express, click Accounts on the Tools menu.
2.Click the Mail tab, select the account that you want to change, and then click the Properties button.
3.Click the Servers tab.
4.Under Server Information, delete the entry that is in the Outgoing mail (SMTP) box, and then type smtp.email.msn.com.
5.Under Outgoing Mail Server, click to select the My server requires authentication check box, and then click the Settings button.
6.Under Logon Information, click Log on using.
7.In the Account name box, type you MSN Member ID (everything before the at sign (@) of you MSN e-mail address).
8.In the Password box, type your MSN account password
9.Click to select the Log on using Secure PasswordAuthentication check box.
10.Click OK to close the Outgoing Mail Server dialog box.
11.Click OK to close the <Mail Account> Properties dialog box.
12.Click Close.

I switched to att.net for incredimail and am unable to send e-mai

If you are using windows mail you need to modify you account settings for the new mail server. You need to know your user name and password for your account. You will also need the Incoming Mail(POP3) and Outgoing Mail(SMTP) and if the server requires authentication. You will get this information from AT&T. Once you obtain this info you can modify the current account or add a new one using under the tools tab then accounts.

THIS IS GARY BOUSSIE I PAID $9,00 TO HAVE MY PROBLEM FIXED DAY BEFORE YESTERDAY. OUTLOOK EXPRESS WOULD NOT SEND, SOLUTION WAS TO CHANGE PORT NUMBER AND IT WORKED. BUT- AT THE SAME TIME,FOR SOME REASON I...

Are both your pop.mail server , and smtp.mail server settings configured in Outlook?

Are you blocking port 25?

tools > accounts > properties > servers tab > check to see if outgoing mail server "my server requires authentication" is checked. And under advanced tab, outgoing smtp is set at 25.

If you need to use SSL or Secure Auth. make sure your not blocking port 465.

With the mail servers correct, and the ports open, you should be O.K. also, I am not sure what ISP you have, but you should check their support section of their site for setting up POP mail, this will give you the correct mail server locations.

Sorry about the frustration, let us know about any bumps.

Is it possible to connect MS Outlook to yahoo.com?

yahoo's UK page has instructions on this and here they are: id rather paste theirs than type my own...

  1. From the Tools menu, choose "Accounts."
  2. Select the "Mail" tab.
  3. Click the "Add" button.
  4. From the Add menu, click "Mail."
  5. In the text box labelled Display Name, type your name and click "Next."
  6. In the Email Address box, type your Yahoo! Mail address (be sure to include "@yahoo.com") and click "Next."
  7. Under "My incoming mail server is a…" select "POP3."
  8. Type "pop.mail.yahoo.co.uk" in the Incoming Mail (POP3, IMAP, or HTTP) Server box.
  9. Type "smtp.mail.yahoo.co.uk" in the Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server box.
  10. Click "Next."
  11. In the Account Name box, type your Yahoo! Mail ID (your email address without the "@yahoo.com").
  12. In the Password box, type your Yahoo! Mail password.
  13. If you want Outlook Express to remember your password, check the "Remember password" box.
  14. Do not check the boxes labelled "Log on using Secure…"
  15. Click "Next."
  16. Click "Finish."
Important: The Yahoo! Mail SMTP server now requires authentication. To turn this setting on:
  1. From the Tools menu, choose "Accounts."
  2. Select the "Mail" tab.
  3. Double-click the account labelled "pop.mail.yahoo.co.uk."
  4. Select the "Servers" tab.
  5. Check the box next to "My Server Requires Authentication."
  6. Click "OK."
To control deletion of messages from the Yahoo! Mail server:
  1. From the Tools menu, choose "Accounts."
  2. Select the "Mail" tab.
  3. Double-click the account labelled "pop.mail.yahoo.co.uk."
  4. Select the "Advanced" tab.
  5. If you'd like to keep a copy of your email messages on the Yahoo! Mail server, check the box next to "Leave a copy of messages on the server." If you want to delete your messages from the Yahoo! Mail server after viewing them in Outlook Express, don't check the box.
If you're unable to send email, try using port 587 when sending via Yahoo!'s SMTP server. Here's how to make this change:
  1. From the "Tools" menu, select "Accounts."
  2. Select your Yahoo! POP account and click the "Properties" button.
  3. Click the "Advanced" tab.
  4. Next to "Outgoing server (SMTP"), change port 25 to 587.
  5. Click "Apply." Then click "OK" and "Close."

Since last night i have been unable to send any e-mails i have the free aol service

Have you unwittingly changed one of the settings regarding SMTP or other server settings on your Mail client, this would prevent you from sending mail.

If you can still recieve mail then this means that only the outgoing server is affected, so again check your SMTP configuration or phone AOL.

I am unable to send e-mail on Windows Mail with my Vista Home Premium on my new HP computer, but it eas working fine before.

Yes, the first step is to tell us who your internet service provider is. Then we need to check your smtp server settings. This is located under TOOLS, ACCOUNTS, MAIL, PROPERTIES, SERVERS. This is assuming you are using outlook express for your email.

I have been using windows live mail for several months for two email accounts. My hotmail account works fine but for my second westnet account (www.westnet.com.au) i am able to recieve email but unable to...

G'day,

All of the documentation on the westnet.com.au site shows that your "Outgoing mail server" should be set to "mail.westnet.com.au", not "mail.wn.com.au". Please check both of your accounts in Windows Live.

If this doesn't fix your proble, could you please repost the settings for your two accounts so that I can compare them?
