Question about Hitachi 50GX49B 50" Rear Projection Television
PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Believe the problem is in the power suppy. Model: Hitachi CU 5002k 50" 3 tube projection. No picture, raster or sound. In a dark room there is no lights or filiment glow. Unfortunately no burned out parts, smoke or sparks either. I have no scope. Have VTOM. Output from the Sub Power Supply is, and should be, 122 VAC (Point AD). Imput to the Power Deflection Circuit (Point AD) 122 VAC. Then goes to a Diode/Capacitor Bridge Circuit and emerges at a fuse at 76 VDC. It then goes thru two capacitors to a test point (30). At test point 30 the voltage should be 129 VDC and is 76VDC None of the diodes on heat sinks are (temperture) hot or even warm. Haven't preceeded on to the flyback transformer because it is much further down the line. SUMMARY: I suspect all the parts in the circuit. In particular the bridge rectifier and a switching transitor. I don't expect a definative answer, but would like your thinking on a solution to this problem (Am I looking in the right place?) Going to a TV repair shop with this older set (1992) is not an option and I do have limited electronic knowledge; altho this knowledge was gain on tube sets...A long time ago! Your imput would be sincerely appreciated.
luckyly here are tech that have knowledge of electronic,if you dont whant any boddie ripp you off, well this gonna help you. Definitively, your set have a short, in the power supply or in the horizontal circuit, with this in mind request to varius tech an estimate, and what, they think is the problem, then you can take a good decision...good luck
