Restore a gateway 505gr

I need to do a system restore on my computer. There is something wrong with the original disk. I can't get one from Gateway as they say it is no longer available. Do you know of somewhere else I can get the restore disk from?

Trying to restore os

Tap F1 when booting, to enter the BIOS Setup utility, and make your CD/DVD drive the first boot device. However, I'm not sure you need to put the system disk in to restore. This machine may have a hidden restore partition. Try this. Remove the disc, and invoke your restore by pressing F11 when booting, and follow the on-screen instructions. I try to do a full factory Restore on a Gateway SX2110G but it says that there is files missing and that I need a restore disk and this system didn't come with any.

When trying to upgrade to a higher OS version and it fails this can also cause many issues throughout the restore that is in the machine when you get a new machine it is always advantageous to make a hard copy of the restore incase things of this nature happen. there are many ways in which you can correct this (provided that te main backup is not damage, should have a restore partition).

gateways support area is located here:
http://support.gateway.com/product/?cmpid=supportnav

The other alterative to get this back to factory restore if the above partition is damaged is to obtain a new physical copy from Gateway themselves.

GATEWAY WINDOWS 7 FACTORY

Restoring your Windows 7 Gateway computer to its original factory settings is a great way to get rid of pesky viruses you can't seem to remove from your computer, or simply to remove old programs and files from your computer and start with a clean slate. Your Windows 7 Gateway computer will likely run faster as a result of deleting old and unnecessary files. It's also a good idea to restore your Windows 7 Gateway computer to its original factory settings if you plan on selling it, or passing it along to a family member or friend.

Recover From Windows 7 Home Screen Click the "Start" icon in the lower-left corner of your Windows 7 home screen. Click "All Programs" in the Start menu, then click "Gateway". Click "Gateway Recovery Management" to open the Gateway Recovery Management program. Click the "Restore" header, then click "Restore System To Factory Default". Click "Yes" in the "Confirm Restoration" dialog box, then click "Yes". Click "OK" in the dialog box warning you that all of the personal data on your computer will be deleted. Your computer will automatically restart. When your computer restarts the restoration process will begin. The process could take anywhere between 30 and 90 minutes. Click "OK" when a dialog appears telling you that the computer has been restored to its original factory settings and that you need to reboot your Gateway Windows 7 computer. Your computer will reboot. After the computer restarts you will need to configure Windows 7 with your personal preferences. b> Recover at Startup Turn on or restart your computer and hold down "Alt" while clicking "F10" during startup until you are redirected to the Gateway Recovery Management program. Click "Restore System From Factory Default". Click "Next" to begin the restoration process. The process could take anywhere between 30 and 90 minutes.

How do i reboot my gateway desktop back to original factory condition, if I dont have any disk with it?

There might be a restore partion. While the computer is first booting up look for something like "Press F2 to restore". If you don't see that then your machine probably doesn't have one and you will need to contact Gateway for a set of restore CD's.

System Restore disk

is there not a 2nd partition on your computer with the restore files on? If there is try pressing Alt + F10 when the gateway screen appears on boot. This will restore you computer to the factory settings.

Before restore starts it will ask you for a password, this would have been user generated when you first got the computer. If you don't know the password, press enter - maybe you didn't enter one to begin with and this will bypass it, or it may give you a hint as to what the password is. Or just try typing in admin. (if you don't remember your password - I don't know what to suggest, except it may be the same password you use for your user account or did use when you first got the computer.)

I have tried looking for restore disks for you and came back with nothing.

I hope this helps
